November Security Update (Also Saturation/Nav Bar Fade Update)

Same here. I don't remember waiting past the first week for a security patch on my original Verizon Pixel. Now I have a Google store Pixel 2 on Verizon and I'm still waiting. Hopefully this won't be the normal moving forward.

Just side-load the OTA guys. The instructions are really straightforward and it takes about 10 minutes. Also, once you do it the first time it'll be really easy to do in the future.

I still haven't gotten it either... I've never side-loaded anything. That being said, I would do it with the proper instructions.

I linked a video back on page 10 of this thread to a guy's YouTube video that walks you through side loading the update. He doesn't assume you know about anything. I had never side-loaded anything before and was able to follow his instructions easily. He also has a link to everything you need in the description of the video.

I may end up doing that. I'll give it until Tuesday and see what happens and then sideload. I am getting kind of tired of mashing the "check for update" button all day. It's been a while since I've sideloaded anything. Takes me back to the days of my Blackberrys.

WTF Google? Where is my update? I am surprised my Pixel 2 is still on September 2017 while others have gotten Nov update long time ago.

Sideloading is fine, but this is silly as **** that you even have to go that route. We are looking at 2 months behind on security updates at this point, nearly 3. Shouldn't happen. Shame on Google.

Oh, I agree. I contacted Google Support about it before I sideloaded and they told me the November update would be coming from Verizon. I said I bought an unlocked phone from the Google store under the impression that the updates would be coming from Google. He said that they release it to the phone vendors and then the phone vendors push it to the phones. I was very disappointed in this as my 6P used to get the updates very close to the 5th of every month.

The reason that it's so slow to roll out is because it's not only a security patch, it also contains the color options and nav bar fade. Clearly Google's been rolling it out slowly to make sure nobody has any issues before rolling it out to everyone. It's not a big deal to wait for 2 weeks, so I don't understand why everyone's freaking out. This is why google puts the OTA files along with really easy to understand instructions on how to sideload. Once you sideload once, which takes about 10 minutes, you'll be able to do it in the future in about 5 minutes...

But it's been two weeks hasn't it? I bought a pixel so I'd have a monthly security update. I wasn't planning on having to side load stuff which requires I put 3rd party apps on my Mac. Maybe be better if they had sent the security update seperately. My colors are fine and don't care about making them oversaturated anyway. Security is top priority in this day and age of scumbag scammers and hackers and that's the update to care about. Kinda disappointing for an otherwise awesome device.

You don't have to.. You can just wait for the OTA :P. I can definitely agree w/ effreyj that Google is probably taking their time on this one simply due to all the negative press.

Normally within the first week or so is when the OTA gets to everyone. That is how it was on my Pixel XL. It seemed I would get it within that first week of the release notes being published on the Google page.

If I recall corectly you decided to go with the Verizon Pixel as it was a much quicker delivery. So did you get the update yet? If it does go thru the carriers as someone above posted after some google chat info then maybe Verizon is giving preferential treatment to their customers rather than their customers(who bought unlocked). Kinda sounds like a Verizon manuver and lots on here with Verizon pixels seem to have the udate

I did grab the Verizon one from Verizon due to being quicker.

How would Verizon be giving their customers special treatment? I don't see how that could be done by them at all... They can't stop Google from pushing an update to people.

I don't have the update but I am on the 8.1 beta so that is expected.

It seems to me the update was announced on Verizon's website the day it was released. It's just strange it yes taking so long to to out.

I was always under the impression that Google was in charge of when the updates got pushed out. There has been discussion back and forth here that the carriers get it from Google then push it out after they check it out for their own network compatibility. So My saying Verizon maybe gave it to their customers who purchased from them ahead of the rest was sarcasm. Should have put a winky in ;)
OK, I'm back to waiting mode again :(

I have a question .. if I already have November patch.. Should I wait until next update or Should I go to 8.1 beta? Is 8.1 much improve from 8.0? Thanks.

8.1 doesn't have the security patch. It won't be updated until December.
