Makes no mistake, the new iPhone will have similar problems. Maybe not burn in, but I would expect blue shiftIf you think this is bad, imagine if this was happening with a new iPhone.![]()

No it won't because those pixels are off.Wait until you go to watch a movie on your phone and the notification bar and nav bar are burned into your screen. Image retention and burn-in suck.
Payback for what they did to the Note 7Wow. So irresponsible. Because one tech blogger decided to take a photo of some image retention and crank the brightness low enough to see it, suddenly it's burngate??? They understand that stupid people will think this is really a thing, right? Firstly, it's not. Secondly, if it were, you wouldn't know about it unless these morons told you. My og XL had mad screen burn.... That you could only see on a plain white screen with no nav bar...so never.
It IS a problem. No panel should EVER burn in after 4 days of use. That is a DEFECT. It is FLAWED. If it's visible after 4 days, imagine how bad it will be after a year, and it would very much affect usage. The colors and other stuff are a matter of taste; burn in is something completely different.
Depends on your level of burn-in and how resistant the display is to burn-in. Bad burn-in will be visible all the time. It will definitely be visible while watching a video since videos don't cover 100% of the screen unless you zoom in.

I hope Google fixes this with a software update
I am upgrading from Nexus 6 that shuts down when battery is at 50-60% and you are using GPS heavy application for the past 2 years
Yes I play Ingress & Pokémon Go and it's very annoying
My CC was charged today and I am expecting the new P2XL this Friday.
So far we don't know. But if this is just recalibration issue, software is the answer. Not sure they can fix suspected poor hardware with a software update.
If you think this is a problem...nothing will ever be good enough. Complaining about something that doesn't effect usage and is simply a complaint out of principal is just silly.
I will disagree with you on this point. If there is legitimate burn-in on the screen that occurs within mere days/weeks of use, then it really does affect usage from a satisfaction perspective. Sure, it may not make apps not work properly or it may not drain the battery faster, but it is still a defect in quality. Imagine if you bought a brand new car and, within a few weeks of driving, the body and cabin starts to squeak and groan and grind as you drive over road seams, turn the steering wheel and drive up/down curbs. Sure, the vehicle is mechanically sound and still drives and the windows still work and all, but all those noises from bad body build that generates all those sounds.....you're not going to be very happy with your purchase.
Screen burn-in is absolutely unacceptable for a flagship device. And if it happens to individual devices, those should be replaced by Google under warranty as defective. But if it is a widespread design defect in the screen panel itself, then it is my firm belief that it should be subject to a general recall/replacement with a properly functioning panel. There really is no excuse for expecting your consumers who spend nearly $1,000 on your "flagship device" to have a screen subject to that kind of behavior whatsoever.

You are right. It is flawed, but every reviewer that talks about it shows the same picture. Show me more than one display with burn in and then we will talk more about it.
