Now that HP acquired Palm, anyone changing their mind jumping ship to the Evo?

So, just now I was doing basic things on my Pre, like trying to answer an email with just an email app open. I had not played any 3d Games at all during this reboot period, the only thing I had used were all the basic stuff and NewsRoom. With NO cards open, when I hit the reply button, the @#%$#$ beeep beeep beeeeep beeep beep Pre froze for a few seconds then gave me the equivalent to the stinky middle finger, aka TMC.

I yelled at it...... you little piece of beeeping crap.....you steaming pile of doggy poo!

Then I rebooted it.

Evo...hurry up!

Heck no!

My Pre has gotten worse with every update. Sure, they fix some bugs here and there (the random reboot and ESPECIALLY the random sound dying was REALLY annoying, but fixed with 1.4).

Post 1.4, though, my email app is useless. Freezes when opening, freezes when scrolling, freezes when selecting a message, takes up to 60 seconds to load an email with 1 or 2 lines of text (no HTML), etc. Some apps just never load. I swear there is a memory leak issue in WebOS but without a task manager I have no way to tell.

Bottom line is that Palm has a minimum of 6-8 months before they release a new phone, so I will be going Evo. I've never used Android but i've heard great things about it. It will take the heavens and the earth for Palm to win back my patronage after how junky the Pre hardware is and the 1.4 woes.

They will need work and lots of time. By that time Android will be either on par with Apple or beating Apple... and that leaves little room for the smart phone market...

I haven't made up my mind... I have three weeks to decide. I'm fairly confident that Palm has something in the works and that it will be 4g... but, like so many others have stated... the Pre WAS beta ware at best. I'm on my third Pre currently. I like the pre and love webOS, but I'm itching for something new.... the EVO might be it....

Yeah, I am.... Honestly, that is one of the big hold-ups with me making up my mind though.... That and I can't decide if I want to be tied to Sprint for two years or just buy the phone at the $449 mark.

It's a no brainer. :P

Get it for 199... if something comes along in a year, you'll have to pay a 200 ETF. 400, defrayed over a year (half and half)... vs. 450 now. It's very simple actually.

Go ahead... you can thank me now. I know I'm full of awesome. :D:D

I currently have the Pre'. Its a great phone, but I really want the EVO 4G. I have pre-ordered mine from best buy. Even with HP buying Palm, I am concerned about their future.

I am on my 3rd Pre since I bought one on Launch Day last year. Although I love what it can do as compared to my Moto Q and my non-smart phone before that, I can't wait to get the EVO. I have also pre-ordered mine from BB, feeling lucky that I live in a 4G area and look forward to showing it off to other Pre-users at work.

HP/Palm will probably take awhile to develop anything comparable to the EVO. I was sadly disappointed to see how long it took for the Pre to get to where it's at today. If it wasn't for Preware and Homebrew, I would have gotten rid of this phone 6 months ago. Just not sure how "friendly" HP will be with end-users tinkering around with their stuff like Palm was.

I have a Sprint Pre and will be making the switch. I really prefer webOS to Android but there is no sign that Palm is coming out with new killer hardware this summer. I like Android just enough to switch but would rather have webOS on the same hardware. Too bad Palm, Evo here I come.

Making the switch as well from a Pre to an Evo. I'm gonna keep my Pre around just to keep up with the WebOS updates, but Palm is gonna need to come out with some killer hardware a la EVO first before I consider switching back.
