Now that Samsung S10 is announced, any takers?

I think out of your choices I'd go with Pixel or Samsung and I'm not a fan of Samsung. One plus is iffy to me but at least now it compatible with Verizon. Huawei wouldn't work for. LG needs to get their camera processing act together instead of putting out more cameras.

I'm still a little wary of OP and Huawei. We'll see what happens in a year!

I don't follow 9 months behind in specs. Until these new devices from Sammy in the 10 series the specs were nearly the same. Ram being the main complaint, but Apple shows software matched up to hardware can be blazing fast with less ram.

I get that there isn't a month to month change in tech, but generally speaking, the pixel 3 and 3XL launched with the same ram and processor that phones had 9 months before. The pixel 3 was more expensive than either the S9 or S9+ which had launched months ago, and even if there wasn't a new Snapdragon available to use, they did not make up for it in RAM or a lower price, and the Pixel 3XL actually had less RAM than it's S9+ counterpart. By the time the pixel 3 launched, you could get a new S9 for $100 less than it's launch price, making the price gap even worse. I get that raw performance specs aren't everything...pixel 3 has a better camera obviously, unlimited photo storage and better speakers, but I'm just sayin'. The memory issues the pixel 3 had at launch are evidence of this issue. Even in MKBHD's latest video on the pixel 3, he said that he keeps getting pulled to OnePlus cus of performance issues on the pixel 3. It's insane that Google didn't learn it's lesson. He said the EXACT same thing about the pixel 2 and switched back to OnePlus. Smdh.

The only thing that keeping me sticking with Pixel 3 xl is Camera and FREE ulimited storage on Google photos.

Take these away and I have ZERO interest in owning a Pixel.

At launch it wasn't a RAM memory issue, it was a memory management issue mostly due to the way adaptive battery was managing apps. Those issues have been corrected.

Way to argue semantics....what I meant is memory management issues. RAM memory issue doesn't make sense.

Once my S9 was upgraded to Pie, I started getting one similar ram management issue that I had on the pixel 3. Google maps sometimes stops navigating and is kicked out of memory if I switch over to play music. This is the only performance issue I am having though. None of the lagginess associated with app switching or the camera as I had with the Pixel 3. The 8gb of ram in the S10 should give Android to have more room to work with before kicking apps out of memory.

Along with MKBHD mentioning the Pixel 3 performance issues as recently as last week, there was an article on Droid-Life just last week titled "The Pixel 3 is Pissing Me Off." From the article:

What’s going on? The performance of it is dog crap. The camera is slow to load, if it even loads at all. Reboots are required daily or you’ll open apps and watch them slowly load or freeze for lengthy periods of time. Battery life, which could be crappy because of the attachment at all times to a Wear OS watch, is bad. We’re talking 20% remaining at 6PM bad, with less than a couple of hours of screen on time. I often switch over to the Pixel 3 XL and a fresh battery each evening, a move I haven’t had to make in quite some time. Ugh.

My frustrations with the Pixel 3, the phone I tend to refer most people to these days, boiled over briefly a few weeks ago and got me to switch to the OnePlus 6T.

Needless to say, I'm so glad I got rid of that phone after week 2 with it. Band-aid fixes never truly work when it comes to tech and I didn't really have hope that the issues would be completely fixed.

If you look how much google drive storage costs if you buy it separately, you will realize that free unlimited storage (at reduced quality) and better night time photos isn't worth sacrificing the other 95% of what makes up your phone. Plus, that unlimited storage offer eventually ends and you will end up having to figure out an alternative unless you stick with Pixel phones for life.

I have to admit, the Pixel camera puts all other camera phones to shame. As ridiculously stupid as google is with some of the failures of the Pixel phone, it's equally ridiculous that they were able to put a camera into the Pixel that is as good as it is. The couple random photos I snapped while owning my Pixel 3 are still some of my favorite photos and selfies to this day. It's like you can take what looks like a professional photo without even trying with the Pixel camera.

I want to clarify 2 things here:
* Google gives you unlimited storage at FULL quality if you have a pixel (not reduced quality)
* My Pixel 3 XL gets free unlimited FULL resolution storage for pictures uploaded BEFORE 02/2022. These pictures remain stored for FREE even after 02/22. If you want to continue to store pictures taken after 02/22, then yes, you need to buy the latest pixel phone out then.

There's no arguing semantics....simply pointing out for the sake of otherrs that might not fully understand the issue. The update was not a bandaid fix. Adaptive battery was set up overly aggressive. There's plenty of Pixel 3 Users here and everywhere without any of the issues mentioned especially since the update that corrected those issues.

In addition, I have a feeling they might extend that offer to new models as they as they are released. I don't know that....just a hunch

I am waiting for camera comparison, well and I hate bloat. Other then that I wouldn't mind S10. I have a pre-order.
My current issues with P3 are bugs and small battery, I charge twice a day. I've been having some weird YouTube bugs when I have headset attached, it's been going on for 6 months now and very annoying since it happens several times per day every single day

Check the S10 subforum for a comparison in the reviews thread. I believe I saw one there. I'll see if I can post a link.

Well now that you say that I'm gonna go right out and buy a pixel 3! They changes everything.

My point remains.

Meanwhile Google is still releasing updates for the performance issues that people apologizing for Google have claimed have been fixed since the first update. Google would not be releasing these updates if the problems had been fully resolved. Like I said, you can never really rely on these bandaid fixes to resolve issues once the phone is released and you're stuck with the hardware.

I admit I like Samsung's hardware and if they ever make a pure Android system I'd consider buying a Samsung phone but not until then.

Ive seen some. Lots of people claim low light is horrible, selfie camera is crap, and finger print sensor doesn't work good. Samsung did push an update to address some camera and sensor issues so will see. At this point I will have to compare myself since my pre-order shipped much earlier then I thought it would

I've seen a few mention the FPS is not great but the majority of owners seem to say it works perfectly fine albeit slower due to such a deliberate action to unlock. No dimple for muscle memory to remember. And the camera is quite nice, not night site level in low light but it's a great shooter.

I would have been more tempted by Samsung, but that Fingerprint scanner bugs me. Appears too slow. They finally moved it to the correct position on the back away from the camera lens, and now its moved again on the screen but about half the speed.

And you know, its going to start to lag over time.

I'm beginning to get more annoyed with it. It's really a cumbersome process compared to a typical FPS.

I was on the fence. I really liked what I saw with the new skin. The FPS issues real or not keep me away. I'll simply wait till I see what the Pixel 4 and Note 10 bring to the table.
