[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

By following droidxcon's directions (using ODIN I believe is what you mean?) won't that erase everything off my phone again?

Unfortuantly yes.

But if I am not mistaken you should just be able to flash SC2.9.1 over the froyo 2.4 ROM

I flashed the the patched 2.9.1 Superfrakenclean right over the EB01 2.7 ROM and had no problems.

ok, i'll use odin with the EB16SC29x_DXC.tar file and see what happens...

That would be the safe bet.

Then if you want to install the patched 2.9.1 superfrankenclean all you have to do is intall the zip file in the red CWM.

Then from there its cake ......... or pie lol.

Let us know how it goes.

As for wiping data, the versions of DXC's packages that include the little x after the version number DO NOT wipe data. They are designed so that you keep all of your data, applications, contacts, text messages, etc. I use that version exclusively, and can attest that it works as intended.

.zip files from Adrynalyne's thread are designed to be used in recovery mode (CWM). DXC's packages should always end in .rar, and then .md5 when you decompress them, and are designed to be used with Odin.

There is no problem going back and forth between using recovery and/or Odin to flash your phone as long as you have the proper recovery. And with so many issues with recovery as of late, Droid's Odin packages help users get around those issues quite easily.

Hello,

Just upgraded with EB16SC29x... No problems at all !!! :)

I keep reading that you should clear the cache & dcache after upgrading.
I tried searching and could not find how to perform the clear. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have any problems with your phone, and you were already on Froyo/Super Clean roms, and you moved to the EB16SC29x, then you should continue to be well off. It's the only way I fly... non-wipe versions.

If you really believe that you have to clear cache and dalvik, then click on the link here, and it should help.

You clear cache and delvik cache in CWM Recovery. It's always good to do it before flashing anything new to your phone.

If it ain't broke......

SuD is correct, but to add to that, my none wipe packages actually wipe the cache for you , it just doesnt wipe data

Thanks for the clarification DXC. Now, where's that new version you promised? Don't make me go back to stock out of spite. Also, I wasn't kidding about the Sabrett's or Knishes. If you have either, or both, I want to strike up some PM dialog with you about sending some out to me.

Well, I don't know DX, something just didn't jive 100% on mine, I think. I did the exact thing this time as I did with the SC2.5, this time going to the latest 2.9 build. Took no time to do, phone rebooted without problems. But it did indeed wipe my applications and all data. The sync rebuilt my contacts list though but I lost my applications, some of which were paid for. No biggie. But, I am concerned about a few things. Earlier today the phone totally locked up/crashed and forced a reboot into "safe mode" which i didn't even know phones had. I rebooted phone and all was fine. However, wife said she has tried to call me 3x, but I show no missed calls. Everything looks normal, I can use data and text and such. I called her and all was fine. Then a few moments ago I was texting back and the phone went into what I think was a mini-reboot--the menu buttons were lit and I have the pretty purple pixel boot screen for a good solid minute and then the screen re-appeared. So, IDK what's going on maybe you can tell me? Phone "seems" to be fine...but these little 'bugs' have little concerned....

Why the hell did I wait so long to do this... :(

My phone is working great with the Super Clean 2.9, everything is super smooth again. :D Thank you sooooo much...

I had one question but I think I saw the answer, I was HIA last night when I loaded SC2.9 and I forgot to copy the Update.zip to the SD card before I started. Everything went thru perfectly and the phone came up and is running great. I saw a post that said with the 2.9 you didn't need the Update.zip file. Is that correct, I didn't hose anything by not having it there?

When I went to the camera the first time it said it need to update the firmware, I did and the camera works fine. No relation to the Update.zip I missed?

I strongly urge anyone having lag issues with their stock phone to load SC 2.9, it is Super Smooth! IMO, even if Verizon does come out with a Froyo OTA update I don't think I'll load it just because of all the damn bloatware.

Camera firmware update will not come up again if you updated firmware. Sounds like you came directly from Eclair, so welcome to the dark side.

Update.zip is used for recovery, which allows you to load zip files as patches, zip files as themes and the such. Odin uses .md5 files for its related files.

Do you need update.zip, probably not. But its a good idea to have it on there, as it can help you with patching and recovering your phone, and even upgrading to future versions of Super Clean without having to use Odin because Adrynalyne creates a zip link for you to download those, which are up before DXC creates the Odin packages.

unfortunatley i couldnt include cwm All . so with my packages you still need update.zip to enter clockwork from recovery ... sorry but cwm All doesnt work well with the packages
