[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

Any chance for a quick flash with 2.9.1? I mean using ODIN, not 2.9 flash then this CWM stuff....just a quick simple flash is what I'm all about. I'm hoping the ".1" patch fixes the glitches in 2.9 cause it was horrendous on my phone vs 2.5 (what I'm currently using).

CWM is a quick flash. No 30 second fixes for this stuff. Once you learn to use CWM you can totally gut and rebuild your phone in around 10 minutes, maybe 15.

2. Can't say that you're doing it in the right order or not because I'm not familiar with CWM all. If you have update.zip on your SD card and you flash one of the Odin files listed in the OP, you'll be able to get into recovery, RED, without an issue. The recovery mode, whether with CWM blue, red or orange, is not needed to work with Odin. These help you patch the roms, install themes, modems, etc., and without the need of using Odin. Just make sure that you choose the correct version of the Odin package and the one without the little x after the version number.

So how should I go about this so I can use the latest version of SC? I take it you're saying not to get EB16SC29x? I don't understand what the x means.

It says in the title that it doesn't wipe data or cache. Does this mean I can just Odin-flash this onto my phone without flashing CWM and wiping all that stuff beforehand? All I've done to this point is rooted and backed up with MyBackup Root.

Thanks!

You'll wanna use a wipe version of SC, otherwise you're probably gonna end up with some problems. You can odin flash it no problems, DXC packs his stuff with CWM like it says in the description. If you've backed up just copy it off to your computer if you're not sure. Should be totally safe though.

The X on the end of the tag just indicates there are multiple versions. After you get 2.9 loaded up head over to adrynalye's thread and grab the 2.9.1 patch to fix some issues with 2.9

I'm sorry to interject the x represents that it will not wipe data...use this only if you are already on froyo

LOL, sorry, didn't realize you had your own tagging system, I thought it was still just version tagging. I stand corrected.

And as for the no wiping thing I was under the impression it would leave non-compatible apps with SC. Learn more every day :D

yeah dude lol i had to go and make my own system up ,,,,let me tell you i stand in the line at the store and quietly sing and laugh to myself

If you're having kernel problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a glitch ain't one!

The song is infectious. It recently caught my ear again, and then I mentioned a glitch to someone while it was running through my head and I couldn't hear it any other way all of a sudden LOL.

Any problems with random reboots? WHat is this patch 2.91? Do I need it, and where do i get it, and how do I install it? Also does the package from page one in this thread do a backup of all my stock stuff? If not am i screwed?

So would it be better to just flash SC2.8 first?

Also, will that wipe the cache etc. during the installation or will I need to go into CWM afterwards and do that anyway?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing before I do it. n00b and all.

Yes you need 2.9.1 go read through adrynalyne's super clean thread and it explains everything. Yes it fixes random reboots.

Cache is wiped during the Odin install, so no need to go into CWM and do it again. As for the version to go to, I would go from Eclair to 2.9, using the wipe version EB16SC29_DXC.tar, and then do the patch through CWM from Adrynalyne's page.

For that, place the patch on your SD card and flash through CWM per http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...od-recovery-w-screen-captures.html#post690579

Ah ok, I see. I missed that version when I was first looking at the page.

So 2.9 (+ patch) is a pretty solid build then? I'll keep updating it over time but probably not every week.

Some people like to update and try different roms more than my wife likes to try on shoes. Some people like to stick with what works for them, regardless of what new versions are out... unless it fixes a bug for them in their versions.

I'm currently using 2.9.1 with the steel blue theme. I like them both a lot. I only did the patch because I was trying to resolve a bug where I'm not getting video msgs (mms) properly from my wife. It didn't fix it, so I'll just stay here since I like the 2.9 build.

Something to think about... sometimes, new versions strip out and/or add stuff. One version might have the version of the video player you like from Samsung, and another version of Super Clean will strip it out. Typically, Adrynalyne will place patches on his thread to give you the chance to add it back to your ROM so you can keep those things about previous builds that you like, along with the enhancements that the new build brings. That's what I like about Super Clean, you really can get an ala-carte build.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. If you like the Verizon stuff, just get the version of the ROM that keeps their apps. If you want debloated, which removes the apps, but still keeps more of the Samsung stuff, go for that version, or if you like having a basic and stable load, kind of like wiping your pc and loading the OS and only the apps you like, then go for Super Clean (nudge nudge).

I realize that this is a stupid question, but I upgraded from eclair to froyo and I wiped all my data, cache, etc etc. Before I did that though, I backed up all my files with the titanium app. How does one get back those files from the sd card if the phone is not showing any of my saved data? or did I lose it all when I flashed the new upgrade?

ok. i have been Adrynaline's thread for 2 hours trying o get the 2.9.1 patch working. I have downloaded the 2.9.1 zip and it's on my sd card, but when i go to recovery apply sd update it fails every time. I flashed the last 2.9 from this thread last night and am having random reeboots and my contacts won't use the back button. Any suggestion ?

Download titanium from the market, and download the key if you have the paid version, and then use the restore function to restore apps and app data.
