I used the packages in this thread
I looked there, and even in all the other menus not associated with the camera and the setting is not there. I even went back threw and put this version on (http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...nmodified-stock-engineering-test-package.html) and still geotagging is enabled with no way to shut it off. Had a friend over today and updated her captivate to 2.2 with kies and she didnt have the ability to turn geotagging on and off, but it was off by default. I was just hoping to find a quick fix, or to feel like an idiot because it was something simple i missed.
Nope. Just says "waiting for location" and it never goes past that point.
What my camera menu looks like.
are you willing to flash superclean 2.6?
Sure. I'll give that a try and see how everything works.
go to the market and get an app called Geo Eraser, let me know if that helps
Not as good as none being stored, but im not that picky as long as i can get rid of it. I have been a lurker on these forums for a while, I have a friend that deals with, repairs, and dev iphones, and has been telling me to look into it more with having a fascinate. After complete and total frustration, ready to throw our fascinates off the nearest bridge as long as they would smash into a million pieces. Was like many others enticed to these phones with the promises of 2.2 we came from og droids runnin 2.2 to these, and now we finally have the phones we bought. the battery life issue in this posts full version was a little hard to deal with, I will follow up about the bat life on current full version tomorrow after it sits off charge all night. To get to the point it is great to see so many willing to give their time to help others with nothing other than the satisfaction of knowing that they made some ones day. There is no sarcasm in that i try to do the same everyday. You all are great, and have been a huge help. Now get to work on getting ginger or honey for galaxy tab. LOL jk
I just want to tag in and thank DroidXcon for the help. Yesterday against my better judgment I decided to try doing all this, as I have NEVER EVER done anything remote like this before....this was a new experience for me. The instructions on page 1 were precise and crystal clear. DroidXcon thank you much for the write up for morons like me on this stuff. I downloaded version 2.5 and I swear to you I couldn't be happier. The phone is so fast and responsive now.
Funny thing was it didn't work when I first tried...why...I never installed the phone USB drivers on the computer LOL. Once I did that, your instructions went fluid! Only catch was my camera drivers, which the phone downloaded on its own; and the new battery readout within the battery is cool (but stops at 96% when fully charged). So far I'm absolutely loving this phone. Everything seems new to me, even though its the same phone. Loving the new available lock screens, the font choices, the calender, everything!!!
Couple questions though:
What happens when Verizon releases their 2.2 version? Will it brick my phone? Will I need to install it over this? Just curious how that will work.
2.2 includes lots of change I know, but does it change anything as far as how the phone internally works? IE, better call quality, better signal? I've always hated how my signal bar jumps around 3G-1X all the freaking time yet my wife's "DX" never does. Thats why I ask.
Anyways, many thanks for the help!!!!!!!!! You made me like my phone again!!
ok yeah try that out lets see what happens
Ok. My GPS and battery are now working.
Wallpaper still isn't working. And this keeps showing up even though my phone is completely unplugged from everything.
it looks like you have a defective usb port,i cant imagine that would be a software thing, we can flash a stock image and if that keeps happening then its def. a hardware port issue.. you are going to have to flash to stock anyway if you are going to take it in.
