[Odin] Froyo leaked packaged custom ROMs w/root and clockwork **UPDATED**3/25

Well I upgraded to EB16SC28 DXC yesterday from Eclair as I needed the wipe, everything was working great until I transfered my apps from the SD card and things have been going downhill ever since. Keep getting messages " Use *#9900# to take log. The process. com.google.process.gapps. has stopped" and later on some of these " The process system os not responding."
Now after closing these alerts multiple times the phone would calm down for a while and I launched some third party apps which seem to work fine. It seems that any Google specific app or internal function in the background, Google related, throws the phone into a tizzy.
I'm sure I can re-flash and it will get me back to a basic workable SC 2.8 but I obviously need my apps back and what is causing what seems to me anyway a conflict with Google related tasks?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I tried 2 different machines one a laptop with win7 and the other is desktop with XP both 32 bit. I tried on different ports on both machines and disabled my AV.

Try downloading it again. Remove the existing unrared and rar files and place them in another directory so that they are not overwriting anything when they're downloaded and extracted. After that is extracted, see if that fixes the issue.

When you unrar the file, do let it decompress or do you click to view the file and drag it out? Sounds like splitting hairs here, but dragging out can actually cause a corruption in the decompress vs. letting the utility decompress it itself.

Want to flash to Froyo but still confused

I would like to flash to one of the Froyo ROMs but I'm still confused on exactly what I need to do, which ROM would be best to install, and also what "clockworksmod" is. I have read a number of threads but still not sure of what to "exactly" do. I have been able to root my phone, but am still a little nervous about doing the ROM.

If somone can point me to a thread that would give me step by step directions on how to complete the task that would be great.

Also, has anyone fixed the Exchange email issue in the Froyo ROM yet? Or do I still need to look at downloading Touch Down?

Thank you in advance to anyone that is able to help.

No chagne, still fails. I tried the EB01_DXC.tar.MD5 as well.

I don't think that the failure is due to the actual file, so much as maybe it's related to your drivers. Try to uninstall, reboot, and then reinstall the appropriate drivers. If it's 32 bit, then the drivers from the first page will be the ones to use.

I'm currently using Windows 7, and have used them on two Win 7 systems. I have an XP system in front of me and will try to flash my phone with SC28x, with freshly downloaded files to see if there is an issue. If so, I'll get back to DXC and edit this post.

Let me know what happens after you re-download those drivers, uninstall and reinstall.

[EDIT] Megadownload is teh suk. Downloaded odin and update.zip and says that I've exceed my downloads. Good thing I have stuff in my drop box.

hey cyber,
make sure you check the following

you have downloaded and installed drivers'
disable any active anti virus
please use USB ports in the back of the computer(if you already are switch to another port)
The battery should be out during the ENTIRE process
if you are using a laptop make sure you are plugged in and you dont have any power savings options on.
If possible find a pc if it is not working on a laptop, laptops are not always reliable.
also try redownloading the file its possible the download was bad

Some people have problems with exchange, some don't. From what I've read it seems like it's based on how exchange handles your security certificates. And unfortunately it's one of those things that you won't know until you try it. But before you flash one of the ROMs make sure you do a full backup so worst case you're covered and can just go right back to stock and not loose anything.

The guys here are really helpful, so feel free to ask questions. Especially mike, helps me unbreak my phone occasionally. ;)

I need to do a full backup before I attempt to put on the new ROM...what is the best way to do this? I have Titanium backup on my phone and I am rooted....is this the best tool to use?

It's the one I use, the best? I guess that's really up to the user, but it works well. But yes you want to back up everything first, so in case you need to restore your phone you can.

As to how to do it, I'm sure it's in one of the many TB threads, but basically open TB, menu, batch, Backup all Apps

Though I can't say what's the best, I can say that it's what I use. It's always been able to back up my phone and restore it without an issue. I can't think of a better choice.

Thank you, I'll try on that thread. Just curious, in the link your showing I notice it says SC2.8 EA15/EB01/EB16 based. Is that different than the Wipe Version SC 2.8/ EB01/EB16 on your OP page?
