[ODIN] Official Froyo ED01 packaged custom ROMs w/Root - Updated 06/12/11

I tried to flash this update and odin just hangs at factoryfs.rfs. I've tried several times and it always hangs at the same point and eventually fails. Now my phone won't boot at all. I get the black screen with the phone ! computer icon. I tried to flash another ROM but it just hangs at the same point in odin. Is my phone bricked now? Please help.

No, it's not bricked. First let's make sure of a few things.

1. Battery is out the entire time
2. You are using a usb port in the back of the computer near the motherboard
3. Antivirus software is disabled

This is for Landshark. I've been running this Odin package since the day you first posted it. I've not had any issues other than it not debinging my phone, but that's a problem for another day.

My problem now seems that for the last couple of days I keep missing calls. Not all calls, but a pretty significant amount never show up on my phone. I don't see any missed calls, only that a voicemail shows up. This phone is for work so missing calls is not something I can live with. Have you heard of this problem? Is there something I can do about it? Is this a Verizon problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is basically a radio/modem problem. Which modem are you using? Have you used *228 recently to activate your phone and update the prl? If you haven't dial *228 then do option 1, phone will reboot. Dial *228 again, then do option 2, phone will reboot. See if that helps.

thanks landshark,
I did this one to replace the droidx eb01 odin debloated package. everything ran smoothly. I dont notice any difference but I guess I didnt expect to see much difference. Checked the GPS and it is a slow as ever. I will keep an eye on battery usage and see if that changes. Any way thanks again

For the GPS, check this thread if you haven't already and see if it helps:

I'm running this rom, and love it so far. Haven't really had the urge to switch to the comrom....yet lol. Anyways, today while at work I had my music player on, and when I had to hurry and turn it off I hit the pause button then the lock button. Instead of my screen turning off, it took a screen capture. Not sure why it did that. I know if you hold the back button and the power button or something like that it takes a screen cap, but this only happened after I hit pause, then the lock button.

Quite a few members, myself included, have had random screenshots taken when pressing the power button. It seems at times the back button basically gets "stuck" so it it being pressed all the time in the background. Probably had nothing to do with pressing the pause button.

You can certainly use the wipe version. No harm in that. Just make sure you back up your data (apps and contacts) first.

1. I always have the battery out
2. I am using a laptop and I tried all of the USB ports. I've used this same laptop before to flash with odin with no problems
3. I disabled my antivirus and tried again with same results

Any other suggestions?

try downloading the file again. You may have gotten a bad download. Also make sure the laptop is plugged in when you are doing this.

what do you recommend for apps and contacts back up?

I use titanium backup for the apps and I export the contacts to the sd card. For titanium backup if you have a lot of apps it is worth it to pay for the premium version. The premium is only a key so you have to download both the free and the paid. When you have both the free converts to the premium. When in titanium backup, let it read all apps and data, then click on backup restore in top center, then hit soft menu key and click on batch. Use the option of backing up all user apps and system data, but then when restoring follow the first two steps but choose the option of restore missing apps with data, not system data and not all apps. For the contacts it is as simple as being in contacts, hit soft menu key, choose import/export, choose export to sd card. When you restore contacts, go into contacts again, menu, import/export, import from sd card.

Thanks. I'll give *228 a try. I'm running which ever radio that was in the oden package in your initial post in this thread. EC01 radio and EC10 kernel. IIRC.

I downloaded the file twice but still it wouldn't work on my laptop. I read somewhere that someone tried running it on another computer it worked for them so I gave it a shot. I just recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 so I don't know if that had anything to do with. Anywho, I tried it my XP desktop and was finally able to flash the update in Odin. After that I was getting FC as soon as the phone boots up. I saw your post to run the fix permissions command in the terminal emulator and that worked for me. Hopefully everything is OK now. Couple of questions, what themes can I use with this ROM and how do I get back the six different lock screens like I had with SC?

If I try this new rom out and dont like it, is it easy to move back to sc 292? If so does that require a wipe?

I haven't tried going back yet but I'm guessing it would be easy as wiping and flashing sc again since they're both froyo builds ...I always wipe cache and davlik when flashing just about anything & since it was recommended wiping data when coming to the comm rom, I would wipe data when going back just to be safe but I don't think it's a must ..just my 2cents

I just flashed this coming from sc2.9.2 and so far I've noticed a good difference in performance. Scrolling doesn't jitter as much and i don't know if it's just a placebo, but i'm noticing slightly faster load times on apps and less slowdown when lots of things are happening on screen at once. so far I don't see a reason to go back. :) Good stuff.

Is it possible to use Heimdall to flash these images? I haven't seen any mention of using that tool...

As far as I know the method described in this thread is the only method for these specific files. I've never heard of Heimdall nor it being associated with anything involving flashing things on the Fascinate.

Actually answered this one myself. Heimdall was successful in flashing ED01DB_DOx_SHARK.tar.md5.

You can find out more about Heimdall by following this link or this one.
