[ODIN] Official Froyo ED01 packaged custom ROMs w/Root - Updated 06/12/11

i downloaded the ED01DB_DO_SHARK.tar extracted and flashed through odin just like the instructions say and im not sure if i was supposed to extract the cwm file and then flash but i just flashed it and didnt extract it

That is the correct file and the correct way to flash the CWM file. To get rid of the FC's you had, boot into CWM by holding the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until the Samsung logo flashes twice on the screen. As soon as you see it for the second time, let go of all three buttons. You should now be in CWM. Use the volume down button to scroll to mounts and storage, hit the power button. Look at data and dbdata. If it says mount in front of both, scroll to each one individually then hit the power button, then after both say unmount in front of them, hit the menu soft key to go back one page, scroll to advanced, power button, scroll to fix permissions, power button. When that finishes, menu soft key back to the main cwm menu and hit the power button when reboot system now is highlighted.

Also when you are back at your homescreens, go menu=>settings=>privacy and make sure automatic restore is unchecked.

Please Help!

I'm a newbie and just rooted my phone with ED01DB_DO_SHARK.tar and ran the cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar recovery. Got the phone working fine... However, some of the previous apps did not work properly like Yahoo Messenger, Barcode scanner, etc.. Also, when I powered off the phone and turn on again, all of my custom arranged icons from the home menu reset to the previous/original list. No matter how many times I customize the screen, when turn off and on, the list are gone and go back to the old one. Any idea what's going there? How do I made all of my customized arranged icons on the screen permanent?

Thanks,
Govee

I've seen this problem mentioned. Seems to be a problem with the ED01 ROM. It has happened to people on stock ED01 and the debloated/deodexed. I have the ODIN packages for the Community ROM done, but I need them to be tested before I post them.

Please read my three big posts..I had identical problems...

Check to see if you are lagfix enabled under voodoo after odin...somehow it enabled lagfix on my wife's stock phone...you might also consider formatting data, dbdata under advanced in cwm..

Lag fix was enabled after flashing one of the debloat/deodex ODIN's? That's an odd one since there was never a voodoo kernel anywhere in the mix.

I know man..blew my mind...yes, lagfix was enabled when I checked immediately after flashing things on her stock phone, (DI01) long story it's spelled out...in the book I wrote...sorry..

Was hopping you had read the posts...went through some wonky things to get her to stock ED01...

Could that explain the pikanate fix in earlier posts of flashing a voodoo kernel?

Not sure. I'll have to do some testing of this later in the week.

EDIT - I may have to change my instructions to flashing the ODIN package, letting the ROM load, then powering off phone, pulling batt and flashing CWM.

Hey Shark, I'd be willing to help test if you'd like. Just let me know in some way shape or form.

i do like how the text messaging thread colors on the stock build better than the SC. lil easier to distinguish. so far so good. reloaded widgets and they all work well =) google is still default search on touch and hold like it was before. thanks for the files man. keep up the good work

Yes, that is exactly my case... I had stock ED01 before this root... I did mine and my wife's phones and both behave the same way. May be the procedure and the BIN has something that does not work correctly.

Can't wait for that new ROM you're working on... Thanks for working hard on this!

That may explain my issues yesterday. Had the same FCs on TW launcher as someone else had been talking about. Tried unmounting the System/db data etc you mentioned and looked to make sure lag fix was disabled but still couldn't do a fix permissions. Then when I went to download Terminal Emulator (or anything for that matter, I got a "no space" error message).

Did so many wipes and ODINs I finally just went back to stock -un root status and let the phone get the ED01 update on its own - plus this all happened at the time the breaking news of Bin Laden were coming out so I don't think my focus was where it needed to be! Will try this again tonight.

if that still doesn't work (flashing cwm separately)..I got to stock EDO1/root by using imnuts ODIN package (stock ROM, kernel)...boot to phone, power off, then three button push to format data, etc..

worked for me, but it's fully bloated ugh....hope sharkster's package works!

Worked great this time. Used the 'x' version though this time as I was coming from stock ED01. Now off to get the Comm Rom back....can't believe I tried to tweak when it was running fine!

Thanks Shark! great job again.

I rooted and went to Froyo on Sunday using your directions. I didn't think I had issues with the Root or upgrade but I am having problems.
1. Some applications error on launch with a application stoped unexpectedly message that requires a force close. I think the applications are getting a null pointer exception.
2. After a battery pull all settings revert to default.

The major issue is not being able to launch the applications. I removed and reinstalled some of them and I was able to launch one of them but all subsequent launches for the app that worked and all of the apps with this issue failed.

Firmware is at 2.2.1, Kernel at 2.6.32.9, Baseband at S:i500.04 V.EC01 with a build of SCH-I500.ED01

Any ideas?

Reflash the ODIN package, but use the no wipe version since you are already on a Froyo build.
