[ODIN] Official Froyo ED01 packaged custom ROMs w/Root - Updated 06/12/11

this community update to 2.0 killed my 3g. it was running fine for one night now whenever I use an app that accesses data, the 3g will continually drop in and out. I flashed back to the Eb01 modem, and it doesnt help. I was on the debloated one before this with no issues. I guess I will have to get verizon to update my data connection?

Yes, call verizon tech support and tell them about your 3G connection issue. Also tell them you have already done a factory data reset and it didn't help. Let them know you need to have an ESN swap done. If that doesn't fix the problem you will have to talk with tier 2 tech support and have a DMU reset done.

well tech support says I need a new fascinate, which they are overnighting to me. looks like Ill be staying away from the community builds for now.

I used the community build and almost everytime I get off the phone, it goes into airplane mode. Does anyone know why this keeps happening?

Hey shark, I currently have the debloated odin with the ec01 modem. Are there any plans to make a no wipe data debloated odin with the ed04 modem? I am staying away from the community 2.0 for now and like the setup i currently have. I keep seeing the new modem/radio updates but dont want to change anything. Thanks

Until there is a stand alone ODIN ED04 modem, I cannot include it. The only way to extract the modem to include it in a package is for it to be in an ODIN flashable bin file. As soon as that happens I can include it in the packages.

Thanks for another great post. A few months back I took my first step and followed DroidXcon's upgrade process to SC 2.9.2.

Today I followed these instructions and successfully upgraded to ComRom2.0 using CR20_NOMODEM_NUTSx_SHARK.tar.

I have a question about updating the Kernel. In reading the post here it *seemed* like the kernel would be updated along with the ROM, but in Settings/About my kernel still says its V 2.6.32.9 as it was before I updated.

Does this mean my kernel has not been updated? And, if so, how do I go about updating the kernel? I'm interested in more battery life.

Thanks.

Kernel V 2.6.32.9 just means it is a Froyo kernel. Any Froyo kernel you flash will have that same version number. Your kernel was updated to imnuts' -50mv nonvoodoo kernel. If you want to update your kernel, you will have to choose a kernel, download the zip file, transfer it to your sd card, and flash it through CWM. You should give the imnuts kernel, in fact any new kernel, at least 3 or 4 days of use to start seeing improved battery life. You will not see any immediate improvements to battery life from any kernel or battery conditioning method.

This is probably the biggest mistake people make when it comes to battery life. They are expecting to see immediate improvement, then start tinkering and flash different kernels. Think of battery life in terms of gas mileage. Driving over a long distance over a long period of time at a consistent speed is going to give you much better gas mileage than gunning the engine for a period of time, then having to slow down for traffic, then gunning it, then slowing down for traffic. Any changes you make to your kernel, rom, modem, system in general are like gunning your car's engine. Your phone needs a few days to settle in order to achieve that consistent speed cruise.

If I have EBO1, would it be bad if used the ED01DB_DO_SHARK.tar instead of the DOx? I want to wipe my data. I like starting fresh but I don't want any problems. Thanks.

Super confused. The threads were switched on me! Yesterday I downloaded UNK_2_pbj50_fixed...is that still the file I need?

Also I want the VZW ota update so should I flash back to DL09.tar.md5 OR DI01package3.tar.tar? I'm not sure of the difference of these files but I need to know which one to flash via odin. From there I'm going to do the ota updates...I believe there are three or four...then upgrade to 2.0.

I am currently on ComRom 1.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanked!

I think you are better off flashing the DL09 file. You should definitely get the OTA from there. Then after you OTA, you can ODIN the CWM 3.0 file, boot directly to CWM and flash the Comm ROM 2.0 file, reboot, and you're all done. There will be two updates from DL09 - EA28, then ED04. Probably best to use this DL09 file also just in case it's not the one you have:

http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/CI500_VZW_DL09_ECLAIR.tar.md5

and here's the CWM 3.0 file too

Is it safe to get rid of:

cwm-recovery-ALL.tar
DI01package3.tar.tar
DL09.tar.md5

since I have a new DL09 file and CWM? idk what the second file is...idr

The second file is the full DI01 package. That is the build the Fascinate came with when it first came out. I would keep the CWM-all file around. CWM 3.0 doesn't flash Amend script. So if there are any old patches or mods that are still compatible with CR 2.0 you want to flash, you will need CWM-ALL. And keep the DI01 file. If something really gets borked that will give you a deeper wipe than the DL09 file.

Went from 1.3 CR to 2.0 last night thru odin, everything works fine so far except charging the battery while the phone is shut off. The Large Battery symbol shows dark with no indication of green to display the amount of charge that is present as you start charging. Also the wheel symbol does not move to show progress?, .The battery will charge but will not display results. The biggest problem though is that I cannot start the phone from this stage. I have to pull the battery and then hit the power button to get the phone to turn on. Any buddy have any thoughts?
I just got a brand new(refurbished) fascinate from verizon, due to disappearing 3g from the status bar. The whole icon disappeared. I got the phone thursday and due to alot going on had to wait to put commrom 2.0 on. Well I turned phone off phone plugged in charger and Im getting the same issue MM247, phone off plug charger in and the battery stays grey with the progress symbol in the middle. Tried to start phone and had to do a battery pull. I do have a them on the phone but its doing it with or without the theme. I did do wipes before I before adding them and I did the odin full data wipe version by sharky. Heres my info:
COMMROM 2.0
GOS STEELBLUE THEME
FIRMWARE UKB 2.0
BASEBAND ED04
KERNEL 2.6.32.9
BUILD ED01
Tried acohol on phone usb port and actual charge port. Didnt work.
I dont usually charge with phone off but just want to make sure this wont lead to other issues.
Thanks in advance.

If you have a different usb cord to try, I would recommend that. I've seen quite a few posts about the usb cords going bad.

Actually have the charger that came with phone and a spare. Neither got the battery to work right when off. I also tried having phone off and plugging into computer to charge....same scenario. Grey battery progress circle and nothing. Then battery pull and power up.Thanks for the excellent package and the quick response. One other small note. BIG NOTE: It appears that the phone is not completely shutting down. I plugged in the phone while shut off, appearing to be shut off, got the battery symbol grey, with the progress circle, but the white buttons across the bottome remain lit.I unplugged from charger and they are still lit. I can press them as if the phone was on. They dont do anything of course because the phone needs a battery pull but thought this was worth mentioning.
Actually I think this is happening because the phone gets locked when I put the charger in while its off............but thought it was worth mentioning anyway

Same thing still happening for me too. I tried cleaning the power cord but it did not work. I noticed the white buttons still on also, and they are not responsive, still requires a battery pull to get the power button to go active.

Does CR 2.0 not have a screen capture option? I tried back and power button but it didn't do anything. I tried to search but couldn't find anything. Did they just change the buttons? Thanks.

TSM pulled the screen capture service out of the ROM. Too many people were having a problem of it snapping a screen shot when they were just pressing the power button to put the phone to sleep. TSM provided a patch for the service in the ROM thread:
