Official 6/28 Update Thread - Discuss Here

I thought mine was bricked too but it wasn't in the end...

- Pull battery for several minutes
- Power on, if no power on, pull battery again, repeat until power, otherwise fracked
- After boot it may stick on the Sprint 4G splash screen for a LONG time. I thought it was bricked but it did eventually get through, takes minutes.

One thing you can try. Remove the battery and do not plug it into any power source. Wait awhile, maybe 10 min, and then put the battery back in.

It makes no real sense but I have had that fix other phones as well as laptops that got hung up.

Can't hurt to try it at least though it probably won't fix it.. i:(i

I will try this

To save time for everyone, the update appears/unofficially fix/improves:

1. Screen more responsive w/ less lag :)
2. Grounding issue resolved :)
3. Stronger wifi signal :)
4. Removed Android Wallpapers :(

I personally noticed 1 and 4. I never had the grounding or weak wifi issues. Who knows, maybe as with #1 it's all in my head, but that was my biggest problem I had with the phone.

Took a while and a few scary reboots plus the hang on 4G screen to get updated, but it was fine. Just give it time, people, and quit panicking and trying to do something if it isn't instantaneous.

* After reboot, Google Voice barfed up an error that it wasn't able to update the Inbox until I went into settings and reactivated background data services. I don't recall what it was set to before.

* The Automatic Task Killer, LED Light, and one other widget I can't recall what it was blanked out.

* The Sprint TV and HTC HTC Music gadgets failed.

* Swiping down notification shade seems much more consistent. Far fewer instances of the clock or weather coming up instead.

* Not home, so I can't vouch for wifi strength.

Sucks that the killed Shoot Me. How is it that the ONLY device that can't do screen shots without major hacking is Android. Makes no sense.

I don't think it is in your head. I find the home screens to be zippier, as is some forms of scrolling, such as in the apps list and the settings list. I also can see a difference in the pinch to zoom out to see all seven home screens a once. That used to have a minor but noticeable lag that has decreased.

It fixed my grounded screen issue as well. Not sure if it did anything for my wifi.

For me, if you go and just reinstall the widget to your screen, it will come back up. It worked for me on Sprint TV, and Beautiful Widget too.

I'm holding off on the update because I like Shoot Me...

I wish screen shots in Android was as easy with my Pre. Hit orange (option) Sym and P and boom.. all done

the whole phone seems quicker. It takes a fraction of the time to load 'running services' and 'manage applications'

Just got update notification in South Carolina. Installed over wifi, took maybe 15 minutes. It rebooted a few times and seemed to hang on the 4G logo for a while but eventually started fine. I had to reinstall several widgets to fix them.

First off my phone was also stuck on the 4G splash screen for nearly 5 minutes before finally loading. I poked around with a few apps and noticed my camera wouldnt load at all. I then tried Goggles and received the error "can not access camera". I rebooted and all was well again. I can also report an increase in wifi signal. I can rarely connect to the work wifi but for the past 2 hours I've been solid with 2 bars.

Improved

I can report that I had to remove and re add a couple of my widgets but all is well. My wifi signal has improved from one bar to three since the update. I must say that I have 802.11 A/G not N. Maybe it is an issue with N getting weak signal since the update.
