Do nightlies still roll out after an RC does or should I move to the RC and wait for updates on those?

there is already a new nightly up by the looks of it. Check the TeamDouche mirror site for info look at dates etc.

I bought my evo a month ago and my experience is that the kernel that is baked in is fine on my 004 hardware. Now as far as other posts are you referring to the CM7 Wimax that shinzul and toast are working on? In that post the author recommends downloading the .34 kernel and flashing it because it has less bugs than with the baked in .35. More important you should know that I have flashed just about every rom and about half the nightlies. I have used clockwork recovery and amon ra. My phone is fine! Sometimes it bootloops when flashing a rom but that was how I found out that "my" 004 hardware does not like the 34 kernel. So I just flash the 35 in recovery(or leave it out) and everything is fine. By everything I mean not bricked. Sometimes you flash a rom and it does not support the camera but most of the camera kinks are worked out. The only issues that seem to remain across the board in ALL 2.3 roms are hdmi and 4g. Just read as long as it takes to form your own idea of what seems to work and do it. I recommend Amon Ra for recovery. You can get it, once rooted and, through Clockwork. Make sure you backup
your current system point with a nand and that nit includes wimax keys!! Other than that feel free to pm me for specific questions or ask the forum where to go for specific walk-thru's. By the time you are done you'll be more knowledgeable about your phone and more than likely addicted to trying new scenarios out.

cheers

So I have rooted before. I rooted my 001 hardware and put CM6.1.1 on it. Something happened when I left it in my car charging during dinner, fried my SD Card, lost my recovery, boot loop at the first white splash screen. Many people tried helping me, but I had to get a new phone. My 2nd phone, 003 hardware, I rooted and put CM6.1.2, Cm6.1.2 alpha wimax with (toastcfh-2.6.35.10-CM-WIMAX_signed.zip), and then eventually CM7 nightlies up to about #20. The USB port stopped working within a couple weeks with no dropping or damage, became very loose, and stopped charging, so I got a new phone. Now I have 004 version.

I guess I was just trying to get some yes or no answers but I didn't lead the question well enough.

Does the stock CM7 RC1 from team ****** have wimax? yes or no.
" " gps? yes or no.
" " HDMI? yes or no.

If no on wimax, do I need a custom kernel to get wimax? or is wimax not available until CM team makes a build or toast and shinzul make their own version of CM7/Kernel?

But thanks for clarifying some stuff. If stock kernel .35 kernel doesn't work, I will try the .34 kernel...and if neither work I guess I will look else where.

Unrevoked...but I've been able to flash other nightlys until I did the one I have now I can't flash from rom mamager

You can flash the nightlys using Rom Manager but not not the RC'S Something about rooting with unrevoke prevents this,if I'm not mistaken were you able to flash a RC before?

I downloaded the RC lastnight but I now see a new nightly #39. Can I just go back to the nightly buy wiping the cache and delvik or do you suggest a full wipe? Is there a difference?

CM7 RC1 does NOT have wimax
DOES have GPS
does NOT have HDMI

The only versions of CM7 that have wimax are versions based off Nightly #24 with a custom kernel applied as far as i know.

From reading over some of the 404 pages of threads from XDA forums on the Wimax versions of Nightly #24 it seems the kernel (.34) still doesn't support 004 camera hardware. Guess I will have to wait. Unless I missed something...anyone can comment on CM7 wimax builds (GGingerbread 2/3) and 004 cameras...everything still working? What about kernel .35?

i cant even flash nightlys anymore, but i had miui zip on my evo and i can manualy flash it from holding power + volume down menu (i forget the name)...so can someone provide me RC1 with google apps for me to flash...that would be great

I don't understand why someone would install rc1 and stop. Just stay on the nightly builds and watch it evolve further.

I haven't had any problems with the nightlies or yesterdays RC release and I rooted with unrevoked and my flashing has been fine with rom manager.

i think it is rom manager or something because if i manually flash the zip from my sd card it works fine

Is the RC build # 39?? Because I don't see any RC available when I look in Rom Manager

you have to look for the ROMs list, not the Nightly list. Same location where 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 are located, you will find CM 7 RC 1.

Me personally, I am sticking with #36 for now.

Ok i fixed the issue...the issue was with the recovery i downgraded from 3.0.0.5 to 2.5.0.7 now I am running rc1 yay

I just flashed RC1 and on my text messages some names are white and others are black is anyone else seeing this?

I'm talking about my font color.

Has anyone been able to install sprint navigation with CM7? If so how did u do it.. I like sprint navigation better than Google navigation and I'm kinda missing it

Don't worry, I've done that plenty of times.

For those concerned about gps, the flashing back to a sense rom and following complicated reset instructions isn't needed. Pick up GPS status & tools from the market, go to menu> tools> reset. After it resets the gps cache, go back to those menus, and choose download.

Not true for me or some of the folks on the board at XDA. Neither the Sense ROM trick nor the GPS Status & Tools steps enabled GPS in CM7. GPS works just fine in Sense ROMs and CM6 (I have old 003 hardware), but not at all in CM7. I'm back to Warm for now. I've noticed that my 3G speeds are significantly faster on Warm than on CM6 or CM7, plus having 4G back is a bonus.

You're not doing it right... ;)

Seriously, though, this has worked for most. It certainly worked for me. I wonder if there's something quirky about the 003 hardware that's causing the issue?

I used GPS Status for about a week on a series of several CM7 nightlies. On my Evo (version 2 hardware) it was only a temporary fix that allowed me to get a location when I needed one. 30 seconds to 2 minutes later, I'd be back where I started, with no GPS lock. Redoing the reset/download could get me a fix whenever I needed it, but it never stuck.

Obviously your experience was different, but for many people the only permanent fix has been temporarily flashing a Sense ROM, doing the GPSCLRX thing, then flashing back to CM.

Bottom line: definitely try using GPS Status since it's easy and quick and works for some folks. But don't panic if it doesn't work, just do the GPSCLRX thing and you'll be good to go. Takes 10 minutes tops if you've got a nandroid of a Sense ROM and your current CM.

...and it you don't have those backups, it's worth the ~45 minute task to get them set up, since its good to be able to quickly drop into Sense periodically for other things too (most notably updating your PRL).
