[Official] CyanogenMod 7 discussion

Downloaded RC1 and clicked yes to reboot into recovery and nothing is happening, just returns to rom manager.

Can anyone tell me the difference of the RC and the latest nightly? I can't switch right now, waiting to get my wifi.

A wifi sleep commit went in earlier today and I think the new rotary lock screen is new too.

So if I want to wipe cache and davlik do I need to reboot into recovery and go thru those steps? I'd like to be as fresh as possible w/ o losing apps and app data, but rom manager groups cache and data wipe together.

Is everyone running the kernel that comes with the rom, or are there any custom kernels that are supposedly better that can be used with CM7?

Also, what kind of Quadrant scores are you guys getting with the stock kernel and RC1 ? I just got 1131.. I mean, the phone feels totally fine and fast.. but it is a little discouraging to my geeky side to see such a low quadrant score. I'm not using SetCPU or anything right now either to overclock. Just curious what you guys are getting.

Edit: I ran quadrant a few more times.. ended up with 1326 as my best.

Yeah just reboot into recovery and wipe them manually. I have never used Rom manager so I'm nothing familiar with how it works.

I have never cared about quadrant scores. If its smooth and works then that's what matters to me lol. But if you must know I just pulled 1279

Id wait for an update to include toast's fixes, but here Kernel Development

@julez if your running a current nightly, probably not alot. But its an officially supported build from the CM team.

So, I've had this issue since #24.. Facebook doesn't show up as an available widget, has anyone else experienced apps not being available to add as a widget ? Any solutions? I downloaded and installed a new weather widget, it too isn't in the list of available widgets.. Kinda weird

Would like to see updates for CM7 RC1:

Specifically:
1. Do you have 004 hardware/camera?
2. Does it have wimax?
3. Does it have HDMI (not really important but would like to know)
4. Does GPS work?

been reading in other posts that their 004 camera was lost and had to get a new phone during the nightlies. I recently got a new phone (USB port was loose), and now I have 004 and don't want to turn around a do the process all over by screwing something up with CM7.

Do I need to do something different (ROM vs Kernel) for everything to work. Or do I just root/flash CM7 and everything "should" be ok?

My phone info:

Android Version 2.2
Baseband 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel 2.6.32.17
Build Number 3.70.651.1
PRI 1.90_003

Hardware 004
H Boot 2.10.0001
Radio 2.15.00.11.19

What method did you use to root?

I made the jump from CM6 to CM7 after the RC was released last night. I figured the GPS issue would have been worked out by the first RC, but apparently not since mine does not work. I guess I will have to try the workaround that has been discussed. In 12 hours of use (most of it sleeping), I also experienced a strange creeping slow screen-off animation after hitting the power button, from which the phone refused to wake and required a battery pull. I turned off the screen-off animation in settings and will see if that was causing the problem. I also cannot get Sprint visual voice mail working using the usual tricks that have worked with other ROMs.

Otherwise, CM7 seems like a fine upgrade.

CM7 RC1 is very fast..but I have one concern. I am now unable to remove or even move around icons from the home screen. Anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: Haha, nevermind, I'm the a$$hole. My Homescreen was locked :-P

Don't worry, I've done that plenty of times.

For those concerned about gps, the flashing back to a sense rom and following complicated reset instructions isn't needed. Pick up GPS status & tools from the market, go to menu> tools> reset. After it resets the gps cache, go back to those menus, and choose download.

I bought my evo a month ago and my experience is that the kernel that is baked in is fine on my 004 hardware. Now as far as other posts are you referring to the CM7 Wimax that shinzul and toast are working on? In that post the author recommends downloading the .34 kernel and flashing it because it has less bugs than with the baked in .35. More important you should know that I have flashed just about every rom and about half the nightlies. I have used clockwork recovery and amon ra. My phone is fine! Sometimes it bootloops when flashing a rom but that was how I found out that "my" 004 hardware does not like the 34 kernel. So I just flash the 35 in recovery(or leave it out) and everything is fine. By everything I mean not bricked. Sometimes you flash a rom and it does not support the camera but most of the camera kinks are worked out. The only issues that seem to remain across the board in ALL 2.3 roms are hdmi and 4g. Just read as long as it takes to form your own idea of what seems to work and do it. I recommend Amon Ra for recovery. You can get it, once rooted and, through Clockwork. Make sure you backup
your current system point with a nand and that nit includes wimax keys!! Other than that feel free to pm me for specific questions or ask the forum where to go for specific walk-thru's. By the time you are done you'll be more knowledgeable about your phone and more than likely addicted to trying new scenarios out.

cheers

Do nightlies still roll out after an RC does or should I move to the RC and wait for updates on those?
