[Official] CyanogenMod 7 discussion

enzofall thank you so much for all the guidance! I know this is a small concern, but will I lose text messages and such?

Technically you shouldn't if you restore the app data. Feel free to ask for help whenever, I will probably be updating the OP alot with FAQs and helping as much people as possible.

Yea dude no matter what the title says if its not stable for you don't use it. I personally have great results with all of them. Have you done anything out of the ordinary to may have cause this?

No, I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. All I done was uninstall some apps I had from the market that I never used. Like quadrant, lintpak, and some others(since having the phone from the beginning of July I don't care what my test are:) anymore) This the first time I had a problem with cm7. I been using it since build #0 but I shouldn't really say a problem, more like it being annoying. So I'm on build 40 and I'll see how it goes. Hopefully no more battery pulls :)

I have personnaly never had problems with rom manager but some have...you could try it if you want ( makes life alot easier) the worst that's gonna happen is that you have to flash again...I usually use both ways...

So last night i pulled up maps, searched for a location and launched driving directions to it (google navigation). Everything started off fine, then the GPS said, lost signal. It regained signal about a minute later.. worked for a minute then lost signal again. So, the GPS for me on RC1 is still a little wonky. Does anyone know why the GPS acts up on CM and seems to work just fine on the sense roms?

*just as a side note, on sense, driving in the same area i was last night i would have zero issues with the gps, so it wasn't a bad area or anything*

Did you try the ##GPSCLRX# fix? That worked for me when I had GPS issues coming to CM7.

GPS here is working great. However, once I'm done with the GPS, I exit out of maps/nav and turn off gps in settings but the icon never goes away. GPS icon is still in my top bar and I've triple checked to make sure it is turned off and no apps are using it.

Anyone else see this? Wiped several times before installing RC1.

Never notice that on RC1, but that happen once on nightly #40. Could of just been a glitch but it came on and off as if it wan't to connect even though I had it turned off.

I should mention that this happen not while I was using navigation but when I connected to the web. Like I said, I think it was just a glitch but I'm not too worry since it is a nightly

Yeah, I had the occasional GPS pop-ups with nightlies. Sounds same as what you've seen.

From what I could tell, the icon simply isn't disappearing. Battery stats suggest the gps is not running even though the icon is there.

Think I'll just reflash tomorrow. I did put a theme on top but I'm not sure if that might cause an icon to stick around somehow.

Oh well. Not that big of a deal. Probably just some strange error on my setup right now.

I rarely use my gps, but I'll say it locked much faster than it ever did on stock. Talking 10-15 seconds or so. Stock would take awhile on my unit.

I used rom manager and I cant figure out how to get my personal info set up. I cant get contacts or apps I did a back up and wipe with in rom manager before I flashed. thanks in advance

I'm guessing you've signed back into gmail. If so, and contacts are missing, they were stored as PHONE contacts. Flash your backup to restore the state you were in. Then, export your PHONE contacts. Then, import them back into the phone user your google account. Then, flash back to cm7.

For apps, you'll need to use Titanium backup or something similar while you're running your original setup. The backup you made in ROM manager is essentially your complete phone setup at the time. It's not used for restoring apps while you flash you different roms. Use Titanium for that. Rom manager backups allow you to restore to a previous state, not individual apps and whatnot.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. But when I download the Rom and I check to back up and wipe, but when the process is done it is not asking me to sign in at all. It just comes op with the cm7 home screen with the live wallpaper running. Oh and I did do a back up with tb.

Did you install gapps?
