Official Droid X Froyo update thread

Okay so I updated....everything is working fine EXCEPT the main thing....FLASH!!! For some reason when I go to websites they tell me that my device does not support flash. I have deleted it and reinstalled....battery pulls....nothing seems to work... Any ideas?

The upgrade went flawless and took about 10 minutes or so over WiFi.

Unrooted 2.1 via FreeRoot (EasyRoot).
About Phone/System updates, recognized an update and downloaded/installed.
Powered off/on after install just start 'fresh.'
Appbrain and updated apps, e.g., Flash, but didn't see the Gmail update.
Market app, recognized the Gmail update and updated.

Calendar widget needed to have gmail account checked off then on, then entries pulled up. Power Widget needed to be reconfigured.

Great now able to view Flash on websites.

Now to wait/find a root app for screen capture and wireless tether as before with rooted 2.1.

Has the pandora widget disappeared for anyone else?

Did put it on the sd card? Any app that you put on the sd card the widget will not work

Sometimes I look at this forum on my phone, this is one of those times

VZ Tech rep here,
Having a lot of problems this morning with the update. Most of the calls are from people saying their phone is glitching really bad where they can't cycle from screen to screen. Pulling the battery several times is not fixing the problem either...
Stayed tuned

Everything has been working great with one exception. The market was VERY laggy for about an hour than it all of the sudden started working as it should. The are several apps that I purchased not showing up in the market. Im guessing that the market does not recognize the x running froyo yet. I used a fix on 2.2 leak but will see if. The market fixes the issue.

One of the neatest things I discovered in the settings was being able to end a phone call with the power button. If you notice, there is no way to end a call if the dialer pad is on the screen, other than doing a pull-down of the notification bar. NOW, you can just push the top button if you don't have the call screen up.

Settings > Accessibility > Power Button Ends Calls (check)

Otherwise, all went very smoothly. Only issue I see now is a slight lag in reloading home screens after texting. Will do a battery pull and give it some time to settle in. Have Launcher Pro Plus still active. It was active during the download and install for 2.2 - no problems. Love all the new things, especially the photo album look.

Froyo disaster

Well, so far my Froyo has been disasterous.

I am experiencing the "stuck on Motorola logo at bootup" problem reported by other users. I have tried two methods mentioned here to bring it back; multiple battery pulls and wiping the cache.

The first time I tried multiple battery pulls, it worked after about three pulls. This second time I'm stuck on the Moto logo, I have tried wiping the cache as recommended in this forum and also mutiple battery pulls (I'm on my fifth now) and I keep getting the Moto logo.

On the occasion that I was able to get past the Moto log, performance was awful. I had many hangs in which the phone was unresponsive, but was buffering my actions such that when it "came back," it did all of my last swipes and button pushes in order.

I also received false new mail notifications with the new Froyo Gmail app.

Pre-froyo, I was unrooted, stock 2.1 using LP as my launcher (not that the launcher should matter).

So far, this really, *really* sucks.

2 Slight issues I've had since doing the Froyo update, otherwise everything went smoothly for me -

First off, I have my double tap home button set to launch the camera, and every time i do that the screen flashes black real quick and I cant launch the camera or camcorder app until I shut down and boot up again.

Second, for some reason my text messages display out of order from Most recent at the top then down...the top 3 or 4 conversations are somehow all out of order.

Other than that, all went well with the update, no other issues so far :D

EDIT: Cool little tidbit I noticed, if you tap the contact picture in the text messaging screen, it pops up with different actions (email, call, text) you can do for that person. Not sure if that was also around in 2.1, but this is the first I'm noticing it

Anyone have a stock build.prop file they can upload from 2.1? My upgrade won't install because of some changes I made but I can't remember all the defaults and what I changed.

I'm running the 2.2 leak and I want to get the 2.2 ota and root that. How do I go about that?

totally agreed

upgraded overnite, everything went fine then i woke up this morning to try it out and quickly found a problem or a bug. if you choose to have no screen lock, then its just that no screen lock, but if you choose one of the others like pattern then you have to use the slider to get to the pattern making it even more difficult to get into your phone if you are one-handing it....in my opinion that is just stupid....anybody else seeing this problem or bug

YES YES YES! This is incredibly dumb. 2.1 had just a "slide to unlock" and I don't understand why they didn't keep it. Another problem I had with 2.1 "slide to unlock" was whenever someone called you, you had to slide to unlock the phone before you could answer the call. I missed many calls because it took me a few times to slide correctly. I used a pattern for my lock screen in 2.1 because I didn't have to slide to unlock everytime someone called me. Not sure how this works on Froyo yet (because I haven't recieved any calls).

Staying tuned..

took me for ever to get the update to show up, i finally had to leave the wifi on and do a hard reset, pull the battery, and turn off the wifi updates for social networks before I could get past the "update not available at this time, please check again later" screen.

since update, no problems,
had to reset once after it got jittery, but that hasnt reoccurred

it sat and spun all morning. after trying this, it worked like a charm...downloading super fast hyper blast now. (Little Bill reference)

Yep, I'm an impatient man  Don't like to wait for scheduled OTA rollouts...

I'm having the same issues that others are having... going from a rooted 2.1, no custom mods, all stock apps, the update fails. When pressing the 'search' key while the software tries to install, i get this:

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/bin/logwrapper"(hex characters) ')
E: Error in /cache/Blur_Version.1.13.604.MB810.Verzion.en.US.zip (status 7)
Installation Aborted.

Is there anything I can try before going to .sbf? I have unrooted and tried several times with no luck.

Went into a VZW store this morning, techs there reset the phone, market worked perfectly in store. Came home, and this crap is down the sh*tt*r again. Market is back, slow and no paid apps, no WiFi, no nothing. I am really hoping someone here has some ideas cause i am out.

Droid X Video Playback

I still have the issue with Video Playback. With both Native Videos and Handbrake ripped videos, if I advance/rewind or even pause a video, the audio/video sync is lost.

What he asked.

I am running 2.2 leak as well. I am not too concerned with moving to the 2.2 official OTA yet. But I have not been able to find a post of success or failure to upgrade OTA with the leak; sans root.

The update to 2.2 leak was with a update.zip file. No flashing was done. (that I can remember).
