Official Droid X Froyo update thread

So I finally get froyo'd and have been fighting it for the last hour. it runs fairly smooth but kinda laggy for about a minute or so until i try to actually do anything and then it gets stuck on whatever and the screen goes black.

my music loaded on there so i tried playing a song which worked. now the song is playing with a black screen and nothing works and the song keeps pausing every few seconds.

this will be my 4th battery pull in the last hour just to get rid of the black screen.

beyond that i couldn't tell you anything because i haven't been able to explore anything yet.

Edit: oh wait! as soon as i posted this it went from blank to the droid eye apparently to taunt me.

Downloaded and updated with no problems, ~15 minutes over wi-fi. Just a few observations.
- Droid eye did take longer during first boot
- Flash was not installed
- More bloatware, thanks Moto and VZW I was really missing NFS after I uninstalled it the first time.
- Phone is noticeably faster with smoother scrolling, quadrant 1140 on 2.1 and 1355 on 2.2.
- Whose idea was the two screen locks when using PIN
- Motoblur still suxxxxxx, I know it was stupid, but I was praying for stock Froyo from this update it is so much better than Motoblur and IMHO Sense.
- Still waiting to test Wi-Fi, weak signal at work.

Any idea where Google "Voice Actions" went , had it on my D1 with Froyo?

I am running 2.2 leak as well. I am not too concerned with moving to the 2.2 official OTA yet. But I have not been able to find a post of success or failure to upgrade OTA with the leak; sans root.

The update to 2.2 leak was with a update.zip file. No flashing was done. (that I can remember).

I think you are right. Hopefully we'll have an answer soon!

I like the up grade two things I don't no increase in volume when your phone ring cause the ringer on here sucks and now I gotta slide the unlock button then gotta do my pattern to get to my screen that sucks

Happy with FROYO, but thought the ringer/volume issue was supposed to be addressed with update?? Any thoughts???

Anyone else lost voice after update?

Can receive and make phone calls
but could not hear or speak anything
feels that volume is being shut off or something

Anyone else?

Edit: never mind, restarted the phone and fixed.
so far no other problem.

i think the volume issue still needs too be addressed

also what ever happened to the JIT compiler don't even see anything about it in this release

Has anyone actually Factory Reset their phones after installing Froyo? And what has your experience been like?

I have about 150 apps installed and I'm using Folder Organizer and ADW.Launcher. I upgraded about 6:00 AM and everything went smoothly over WiFi. I'm slowly checking out my different apps. I have used Exchange and GMail (only 1 account) quite heavily today without problems.

I currently have only one issue. I hate the new Swype keyboard. I would be happy if it just looked like the original one.

I also use Mintoris Basic and I had created a benchmark program to see if it would see a speed improvement. My benchmark went from taking 19.8 seconds to 14.4.

Sound from media player goes out when a notification comes in. Media continues to play but without sound. Have to shut down media player and restart to get the sound back.

I do like the !?,@ _ at the top of the keyboard though.

Droid-X update failed issue

My issue with the update failed was because the clockwork mod was installed.

I finally did what someone in another forum suggested was during the install hit the [search button] to display the log.

I showed me that it was the logwrapper was not correct.

I found this article on Fix: Logwrapper Issue when Installing Froyo for DROID X - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

this solved my issue of the update. i am still rooted and and everything works.

Hope this helps as it has been very frustrating to figure this out.

After install only on issue:
Held the Motorola Screen for an hour until I pulled the battery and reset it.

Love:
Flash is jamming
The direct choice to call, email, text etc.. menu when pressing contact icon in the Launcher Pro contact widget
The voice search option when holding the search key down
Faster scrolling
Gmail App is way more useful
The folders in the image gallery is nice
The new camera features like on screen camera button,
Little better shutter speed
Widget options are nice on the App Market, Google search new choices
Separated Display/sound
Quick Office Suite is new to my device. Wasn't there before?
Dolphin Browser and Google Native Browser seems to be quicker loading Java as they stated.

Don't Love:
The fact that we STILL cannot copy/paste/cut text from any screen specifically emails. What the crap!!?

Over all, It took me about 20min or so to download and install OTA and I am happy thus far. Much needed improvements. Some improvements I didnt even realize needed improving but they are only better now. Like the Widget responses in Launcher Pro. Thats a great update!

replaced some apps that VZ mentioned were updated and still failed! ugh… anyone else with root have any luck?

No update here nor do I want Froyo. I am rooted and have removed some of the bloatware. The update was pushed to my phone w/o my knowledge (or consent). I came back to see 'update failed'. Ok by me. I want no part of it until the guinea pigs (forum community) finds all the bugs.

Why people on here actually expect that Google has worked out the kinks before this got sent out is beyond me. I'll sit patiently to find out how I can maintain my wifi AND still move to 2.2 w/o issues. Nothing ground breaking in this new update.

After installing my internet is running irritatingly slow even with all bars and 3g lit up... Anybody else having that problem?

Someone tell me the huge advantage to rooting and then having to deal with crap like this. I've never rooted and my update went without a hitch. That plus I'm totally diggin most of the Froyo update. Lot's of improvements. Still like the old swype keyboard better though.
