Official Droid X Froyo update thread

Have to ask.... those with problems were you rooted and/or rolled back from pre-release?

Just got Certified Like New device today. Activated at 9 and updated at midnight, and I have had all sorts of problems.

I have went through and restored every single piece of crapware back to my phone. Downloading at 30% :(
People on other forums have said that restoring everything works. I'll find out in a bit. Hope to get answers to you rooted people soon!

Rolled back about a week or two ago from the unofficial and downloaded, installed and factory reset (as I have done after any new update when getting phone software) with no problems at all except for noticing the same problems the unofficial had

Really sorry to hear people are experiencing problems. FWIW, here's my setup and what I did to get rolling post update:

Was running LP Pro before the update; no problems post install and am still running my favorite launcher.

Task killers like ATK won't run in Froyo... they should be uninstalled. I have to wonder if that may be causing some of the problems seen here. Go to running services (which has been updated as well) and get used to turning off unwanted processes one by one. This is much safer than task killers regardless and you can place a shortcut to the process manager on your home screen or even in your dock in LP.

Go to the marketplace (or AppBrain) to fetch the Gmail and Adobe Flash updates.

EDIT: Speaking of GMail... color codes now added and the sync is much faster than before.

I had one failed install attempt. I am rooted but on stock 2.1 with all bloat installed and working.

Do I need to unroot? remove su? Also where is the update.zip downloaded to so I don't have to spend another 30 min downloading it if it fails again?

Cant download apps in a timely manner! Each app takes 3-5 minutes to load preview in market and another few minutes to load system reqs page.

Same here. Everything Market-related is painfully sloooooooow.

One little bug i've noticed so far is that when i access the Market and go to my downloads, the last few things i've downloaded (Gmail, Chrome to Phone, and an update to Flick Kick) all show up as still installing, even though the installation was completed over 30 minutes ago.

Is there a menu setting that i can click to allow automatic updating for all of my apps? As it stands now, i'm going through my downloads list and having to check the 'Allow automatic updating' box for every app individually.

Also nice to see that Gmail now includes the option to be notified for every new message, not just the first one.

EDIT: Nevermind....the above bug doesn't seem to be occurring any longer. Weird.

EDIT #2: The bug is back.

This makes for a nice birthday present. Whoa this keyboard looks a little weird. Upgrade went through without a hitch. Updated Flash and Gmail and now I'm trying to think of a flash website to visit.

I'm actually pretty disappointed with the FROYO update. Not at all what i was expecting. Lots of bugs and new things that can't be changed.

So you go to settings-about phone- system update right?

My X says no updates available. :(

Its possible it hasn't been released to your servers, but try this:

1) Turn WiFi on.
2) Power cycle your phone normally (turn off, then back on). If it doesn't come up immediately, go and force the check just like before.

2nd attempt failed. It reboots when it asks do I want to install the update. Th bootloader, or whatever screen it is, starts up (the one with the droid and the box with the yellow arrow coming out of the box. That runs for a second then the phone shuts down and reboots and then says the update failed. Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to unroot and remove all super user apps, busybox etc?

ive been stuck on the same screen for what seems like forever. the yellow status bar hasnt moved in a long time. it says "patching system files...." how long should i wait or if im frozen what should i do?

Mine still fails… even after restoring every single piece of bloatware… if anyone has a solution… that would be helpful

After updating to Froyo, i can't view pictures that i've taken post-update. I can view the ones i shot pre-Froyo just fine though. Any ideas?

My bet is that clockwork or bootstrap are the cause of the failed install. I'm trying to uninstall them and I'll try again but my first attempt to uninstall clockwork didn't take because I could still boot into it.
