[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

So far I haven't experienced any issues with the update, except not being able to download Netflix or TV.Com. Some things that appear to be different are the stock calculator layout, weather update when looking at an agenda item on your calendar (is that new?...never noticed it before), under clock settings the Home clock is accurate...before it used to say USA/Detroit rather than my actual home town, on the notification bar when you hit clear everything actually clears...before even after hitting clear the missed call icon would stay in notification bar, nice new animation when new text messages are received.

My Exchange ActiveSync is working fine.

Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk

Same here...Exchange still working fine. I've received several emails since installing the update.

For those having the issue, perhaps deleting and re-adding the account might fix the issue? I know a lot of times we had Evo users at our company who's phone would randomly stop syncing with Exchange. In all of those instances, deleting the account and re-adding the account fixed the issue. Just a thought!

With the GPS widget and it not being on all the time, personally I like it but I found I could get it ON all the time by turning the widget switch thing on and off twice in a row.

If anyone else would like to confirm this for me. But, I like it not being on unless needed, I usually turn it off and then forget to turn it on when I need it. Frustrating.

Installed the update, having issues with the compass. Both in GPS status and Google maps. Tried a reset a battery pull reboot, and a recalibration of the g sensor. nothing seems to help

anyone else?

If someone else has already addressed this, I'm sorry. I am having troubles with the GPS too. Mainly the HTC widget does not accurately turn it on/off. Seems to sometimes and sometimes not. I don't know if that is what you are talking about or not.

Overall I like the changes that this update made. The only problems I've seen seem to be well documented here already... compass not working properly, using speech to text in messaging, etc. not working properly. The first couple times I used the speech to text thing I was barely seeing any activity on the microphone icon and got a message that said to speak louder although I was already screaming at it. Later it seemed to be almost too sensitive, as if it was picking up background noise and not discriminating it from the speech. In this case, it didn't know when to end and start processing the speech. Weird. HTC will figure it out and if we're lucky Sprint will implement the fix in a timely manner.

I ran a quadrant benchmark and it is well below evo2.2 . Very strange it is supposed to go up not down with this update
Mines did the same thing. I powered completely off then restarted and ran the test again now i am above the Evo stats with the new operating system.

HELP!

So I downloaded GB on my unrooted EVO. Did so over wifi while it was plugged in. installed and everything no issues but when my phone came back on it would show my background with the loading screen then say HTC Sense has stopped unexpectedly please try again. and shows the force close button.

i have hit the button multiple times and it does the same thing. i have let it sit there and restart itself and nothing. i hvae pulled the battery multiple times, restarted it too.

Someone please help???
Thanks, Brendan

It seems that the time on battery doesn't reset until the battery is unplugged @ 100%. I had noticed yesterday that plugging in and out and even rebooting didn't change that timer, but after getting a full charge overnight and unplugging this morning the time on battery clock has reset.

Yeah, I just noticed that after I did a full recharge. Thanks.

answearing calls drag up to ignore drag down to awswer

thats kind of cool

Thanks! Believe it or not I haven't gotten a call yet when phone was in sleep mode. They have either been missed or my screen was already on.... Thats cool.

That's actually been there all along. What had changed is there is now a thin red and green line above and below the slider to visually indicate slide direction.

I have been using the gtasks widget (which is awesome). It is no longer available after the update.

Overall, I have been very happy with the update. It feels snappier, and my battery life has definitely improved. As soon as netflix is back I will be happy as can be.

I was asleep for about 4hrs with my screen off but I'm getting a reading of 68% on the display in the battery usage section. I believe that's just a glitch in how usage is being tallied and/or reported because I only dropped about 4 notches in 4hrs. I was at 61% when I went to sleep and 57% when I woke up.

I also noticed that launcher pro is not working properly since the update. In launcher pro, I had the home key set to take me back to my 1st screen when I pressed it. Now when I press home it kicks me out of launcher pro and back to sense.

Another issue I have now is that when I press home while in sense I no longer get shown that little sub menu that asks do u want to use sense or launcher pro and gives me the option to make one my default launcher. I can't even open launcher pro from the market now, I had to download an app called home switcher and open it from through that.

if you go to applications and find htc sense, hit clear defaults and then hit the home key and you can set ur home launcher. i guess htc just wanted u to use their sense and give you some trouble.

thanks i appreciate it... i really hope this is true because that would be really awesome. i could see it happening because there are still bugs but it doesnt make sense how they would update sense, even though they said it wouldnt be.

Remember, never update when you're rooted. Always wait for the rooted version of the software. Check the root forum, there might be one out already, not sure.

after call end....

After I end a call it now goes back to the main screen. It use to go back to the dialer.

My voice mail is not working and I don't use Google voice. Mad face!
