[Official] Gingerbread Update - Bugs, New Apps, etc.

I have that same problem with my browser too. Force closes every once in a while. Lost alarms. Display is using 40% of battery. Everything else is good.

It looks like th compass issue is common with 2.3.3 in general.

Issue 16741 - android - compass not working on gingerbread roms - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Issue 15999 - android - Nexus S compass and accelerometers don't work properly - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Nexus S compass and accelerometers don't work properly - Google Mobile Help

I actually use my GPS and Compass apps a lot for hiking and other activities like GeoCaching. I could use a dedicated handheld GPS and compass device, but I like having everything in one device just like pretty much everyone else here I would assume.

Hopefully a quick fix is around the corner. Not sure how to revert back to Froyo without rooting.

After this update, the Sprint Football and TeleNav applications have slightly updated versions available in the Market.

Just thought I would share this. Someone over at Android Forums posted the following up early this morning.

(Apologies if this has already been posted here somewhere)

HTC, Sprint, and Google hope you are enjoying the latest update to a device that set the standard for all mobile devices to follow nearly a year ago(EVO 4G). Important to note that a water down version of Gingerbread be introduced first because of EVO 4G mass popularity. Functionaliity had to be first and for most. Repeating mistakes made by other carriers was not going to be acceptable by the EVO community. This update addresses some of the pressing concerns by the EVO community. Once we are satisfied no major issues are associated with current upgrade we will proceed with 2.3.4 If no major issues other than Netflix you can expect June 9th 2.3.4 OTA update.

2.3.4 will include:
1) Landscape for home screen
2) Gingerbread keyboard option
3) Further performance improvements
4) Video chat (Google)
5) Sense UI update

Like EVO 3D we are listening to what the expectations are from the community.
BSOD
P.S. Netflix will be updated and streaming ASAP as this issue is being resolved. Expect an update with in 24hrs at the latest Monday June 6th.

My display usage says 55%. Bin of the battery usage makes sense anymore. I can plug and up for three or four hours and after unplugged it it still says that time on battery is 13 hours. There are items using the battery that shouldn't be because I haven't opened the app, I don't any backgrounds, services turned on for the app, and I don't use a widget for it. All that aside the update seems to be doing its job. The battery isn't draining as quick as before, etc.

answearing calls drag up to ignore drag down to awswer

thats kind of cool
Thanks! Believe it or not I haven't gotten a call yet when phone was in sleep mode. They have either been missed or my screen was already on.... Thats cool.

Everything is good besides no improvements on video recording quality, especially audio in video.

I installed the OTA upate using a zip in cwm recovery and everything seemed fine except sense was restarting every time i returned to my home screen darn near.

anyone else have this issue? i am assuming at this point it is because i did not wipe data before flashing the rom.

It seems that the time on battery doesn't reset until the battery is unplugged @ 100%. I had noticed yesterday that plugging in and out and even rebooting didn't change that timer, but after getting a full charge overnight and unplugging this morning the time on battery clock has reset.

some of the things i have found

-i think the priority has changed during a phone call, ive been phone calling my friends and three waying almost every night recently and when im on the phone now i cant receive any of the texts other people sent me, but i used to be able too. its interesting but weird cuz i would receive her texts right after i hung up so i think that changed

-for sms the notification is slow and i think buggy, you can open up a text, look at it and hit back but the notification is still there. even for a little bit when you send a reply and back out too fast.

-i miss being able to turn on and off 3g mobile network when holding the power button, but i guess ill have to get used to it........

Insatiable ppl

This is wrong, that is wrong, enough already. If you want better camera functions buy a Kodak Instant. If you want better gaming buy a Atari. If you want better video quality buy a VCR. If you want better browsing buy a desktop. If you want a better radio buy a walkman. If you want better call quality get a Ham radio. C'Mon ppl, the EVO is top notch compared to whats out there now. Enuff geeesh.

since I upgraded to GB...exchange not working anymore...

I tried wipe and reinstall and no go...goes to end and says " failed to connect account. try again later."

Called Sprint and no help there...I need to get rolled back and no where to do that,,,Help !!

Anyone else who uses Exchange able to verify this? I have it listed in the OP as a possible issue awaiting confirmation.
