Official I got the OTA DL09 update discussion. See Post #2 for problems/solutions!

Ok, GPS works outside GREAT. Battery still quick. New question I'm not even guessing if its related, just know this is the only new thing. "Before" whenever I selected an address, it automatically gave me several options as to what to do with said address. Bing, VZ, Maps, and google nav. Now, after update, Google maps isn't a selection. Granted, I can still get to Nav old fashioned way, or hit "maps" and then "directions" then type "from" and finally it the blue triangle for Nav, but before, it was a one hit selection. Could the update have changed something so google nav is no longer a default option after hard pressing an address? Thanks!

Impression is that battery life is taking a hit.. GPS locks are FAST now.. Used to take minutes in driveway and NEVER while driving

uninstalled Maps, re-installed. Now Maps is a selection, and the blue triangle is on the first screen. whew......... LOVE the gps. And with my new car dock and bluetooth speaker, I'm set! Now, if we could just get 2.2 so I could talk to the Fascinate via the bluetooth..............:)

I thought it might be 2.2, but it wasn't - so I got the DL09 on OTA without issue (was stock + root) and now I'm on Blackhole3/Adrynalyne over DL09. This was my signal to dive into the ROM scene and go for it.

GPS is *definitely* better, but I think battery life is taking a huge hit. my seat of the pants meter says GPS and WiFi polling are like 10 billion times a second or something. hehe

So far so good, I suppose, and the phone is WAY WAY better overall for raw speed and app response.

Swype seems to be affected

The OTA update came through yesterday and I immediately downloaded it. Everything seems to be ok except for my swype. After the update, when swyping, the instructional tutorial would pop up every 2 min and was quite annoying. Everything else seems ok. I have since tried to modofy the setting for swype and will see if that helps. Love the phone

Is it possible that the battery is draining a bit faster due to the soft key lights staying on longer?

Also, this might just be my wishful thinking, but has anyone noticed the RAM being used more efficiently? Befor the update I noticed that my used RAM would drop down to about 240-250 after closing all the running apps, and would max out at around 270-280 with running apps. After the update and the initial reboot I noticed that the used RAM was at around 220. It eventually would spike at around 270, but now whenever I close my running apps it again will drop down to around 220-230. I've checked throughout the week to see if this was just a first time thing but it seems to drop to the 220s everytime. Is it possible that this update is making our phones use the RAM more efficiently? If so this is another plus. There have been multiple posts claiming that there phones seem snapier, if the RAM thing is true this would make sense, right? Oh and I'm bone stock on this phone too.

Ok, DL09 downloaded. Mostly stock with the exception of nfs and tetris uninstalled and then unrooted. So far the update has worked wonders. GPS is outstanding, batt life about the same, love the back light staying on(reminds me of my dinc) and overall phone seems more responsive to commands. The only bug I have is with swype. When I have auto cap option on it works for swyping but when I use swype keyboard as a reg keyboard it will auto cap the first 2 characters of the 1st sentence then work flawless. Any one else notice this. Its not a big deal and can def live with it. I was just wondering if its possible that verizon did this on purpose as a tell bug. In other words bug would only appear if phone was rooted or system apps were removed. I'm not sure if that's even poss and I suppose I could be giving verizon too much credit. Just a thought. Any how. Is anyone else seeing this?

Updated last night without any problems except when I clicked on Settings, about phone, systems updates, then check new...... nothing happened. I turned WiFi off and it worked and began downloading.

The one change I found is that I am no longer 3 miles away on Google Maps while sitting in my house. Thanks for letting me know this update was out there.

1st post, no rom, no root- just d/l'ed di09... Took about 5 whole minutes, start to finish. Gps is fixed, and the phone SEEMS to be less laggy. Uninstalled my task killer, just to be safe. Now holding my breath for froyo, so it may also be my last post. Thx for this GREAT forum, and thx for the update info, as big red didn't(and doesn't) have a clue.

Stock phone.4 attempts to update.Previous update failed message.Am I doing something wrong? Please advise ,thanks. Ohhh and I am a noob at this.

Updated to Dl09 from DJ05 and I'm noticing one thing that has continued from DJ05, gps sometimes refuses to start at all. I've tried forcing it on by turning it off and on behalf the it won't engage at all until I restart my phone. Has anyone else experienced this?

For me swype seems to do one of the following:
1) Miss the first letter I typed
2) make the first two letters I type be uppercase
3) make the first letter of the first two words I type be uppercase
It's not the end of the world but annoying.

I got my update on Thursday evening. Now I can't access my SD card when I connect my phone to my laptop. I used to be able to do that in ordr to add or remove music form my stock Fascinate media player. Now when I connected I had to install some VZW software update and now I can't view my music files nor if I use the Verizon media manager it doesn't even recognize my phone. Also, it no longer asks if I want to mount phine when I connect the USB cable. aNd now my laptop is not even recognizing my phone when I connect via USB.
Non-rooted phone.
WTF? Help.

Just did my OTA update...went quick and smooth. Thank god. Everything looks good so far. GPS locks on fast and Youtube did its new thing, however my Google (web bookmark saved on homescreen) will not determine my location..wtf ?
