Officially wishing for Android N

Based on the Hands On footage with the LG V20, I definitely want the N update. The V20 appeared to have many small tweaks and changes that I really liked.

On a similar note, I don't like the V20s design. At all. I'd buy the V10 over it any day, I'm sure performance isn't THAT different either.

I'm still happy with my V10. Didn't see enough to excite me into upgrading.

The question is will the V10 receive the Nougat update. Right now, it seems to be a mystery. And, if so, when. If so, it'll probably be months from th V20 release so it won't hurt sales of the new phone.

I'm thinking nougat will happen. It'll be hard to justify NOT doing it. This is a flagship device that's not even a year old. That being said. I don't expect any of the new UX 5.0 stuff. Or new camera menus etc. It'll probably have exact functionality we got now but new OS underneath. This is why Samsung does with its old phones. You'll get the newer version of Android but not latest iteration of touchwiz. Case in point. Android 6.0 on a Note 4 is nothing like Android 6.0 on a Note 7 (or even Note 5). It'll be nice to get 7.0, but don't expect it to suddenly look and work like a V20.

Hopefully they do make N available. Some of the reported battery efficiency improvements would be really NICE.

the problem is, the carriers are in the middle. If T-Mobile doesn't want to do it, it won't happen.

And trust me, T-Mobile doesn't want to spend the money to develop and test it.

I would think it would receive it but agree with you that they would wait a bit after the V20 sales cool off.

I honestly want Nougat the most at present for the better theming engine and the doze on the go features the most.

For now, as far as a doze feature goes, you might want to try Greenify. It includes a very nice aggressive Doze feature. It works great!

Everytime I use that app my battery life gets worse, and I'm not the only person that said that

Yeah me too... As a very basic user, its best for me to have apps on standby in the background. Once I uninstalled facebook, and deactivated all the Amazon apps I no longer needed greenify.

My favorite Nougat feature is Doze Mode On The Go. When I upgraded my G4 to Marshmallow, there was a notable increase in battery life, hours added per day. "On The Go" will hopefully increase this even more, enabling the feature when the phone is moving, in your pocket, etc. Other things will be nice, but this is the value-add I anticipate the most.

newest version of Doze is working great on my phone using hibernation settings.. really improving battery life

My V10 doesn't have the battery life as my V20s but, so far, it hasn't given me ANYTHING to complain about. It's still a helluva handset.
