Oh yeah!!!!!! Official!!!!!!!!! Feb 13!!!!!

I don't want to have to root to be able side load apps. I'm getting tired of rooting/jailbreaking. I just want a phone that doesn't have to be hacked to make it work the way it should.

Don't act like a root is going to kill you man. I'll do it. Nothing changes. And its fairly easy depending on what you use (z4Root - easy, ADB - medium to hard).

Once you do it, its worthwhile knowing that if you want something, you can get it because it has zero chance of being blocked by a carrier, in this case, at&t.

Yeah, dial 611 on your AT&T cell phone, and push the number for account cancellations. Tell them your story.

I just tried to cancel and they shot me down. What a stupid company. I explained that they would lose my 160 a month billing for 25 years and that they should cut me a break. They said can't help you. Sorry.

Unreal. Any other suggestions?

I can't think of anything... Maybe me being an iPhone user threatening to go over to Verizon helped... I dunno... sorry man.

As far as rooting goes, I would stay away from z4root. unrEVOked is just as easy, and it automatically flashes Clockwork Mod and Superuser. You will need the Clockwork Mod's recovery to make a nandroid backup (exact copy of your phone's hard drive) in case you ever need to recover for any reason what so ever. That is by far the biggest benifit to rooting in my mind. I nandroid every week "Just in case" and store them on my laptop. The files are huge but if you ever need it...

would unrEVOked work for the Inspire 4G when it comes out?

unrEVOked supports most if not all HTC android devices. Once the Inspire comes out, give them a few weeks to make sure it won't brick your phone. They will then either give you the all clear or update the version number with one that will work.

This is good news. I'm just looking to make a Vanilla phone... no garbage files whatsoever. Going streamlined and sleek for the ROM.

I just tried and told them my early upgrade was in May, but I was sick of my Captivate (which I'm not, I wanted something new). I said I wanted to cancel my service unless i could get my up grade now. After 15 - 20 minutes on phone it was approved. The upside is I got the Inspire for 133 and some change, down side it has to be sent to me by mail. I can wait a few days to save 170 bucks doing the normal upgrade...

You had better luck than me. My upgrade date is April 15th and the store wouldn't budge. Maybe I'll try to call customer service and see what they say.

My upgrade is March 16th and the ATT store I went to wouldn't budge on an early Inspire upgrade. The guy went and talked to his manager and the only thing I could get an early upgrade for is a iPhone4. I thanked him and left. I am going to give customer service a call and see what they say.

I just called and business care wouldn't budge either. I can't believe they won't give me the discount 2 months early. Ah well, guess I'll reevaluate what I want to do in two months when the line is eligible.

To tell you the truth I was surprised they did it. I probably got the newest employee in the room. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

its ok I had called in 7 new customers and att still would not let them even one after another that 7! ATT customers that to renew their 2yr contract! if It was me I would say yest to all

Yeah, I don't get it. Why risk me leaving in two months rather than getting me to sign another contract today. Seems like a poor business decision. In two months there might be a phone on another carrier I want.

well where I work it was so busy today cause of the inspire... and I cant believe ppl got mad at us thinking we would not let them and just had to tell them its att for some reason and your right its a poor business decision cause... and I personal hate the fact they say if you want a "early" upgrade for Iphone pay us $100-200 +the phone...really.. lol

HTC Sync

Has anyone got the HTC Inspire to work with the HTC Sync software. I installed the software on my WinXP system but when I plug in the USB cable and activate the HTCSync software it comes back and says it can not find the phone.
