OMG my camera lens is shattered!

The sample of cracks in this forum is significant. Still better than the Note 7 debacle none the less.
True, but all the ones I've seen look like a puncture caused the damage, which understandably raises the question of how many of these were user caused. I've never seen simple stress fractures look like the images posted here, so that kind of result would need an explanation.

Makes me wonder if its from pressing where the volume up button used to be like on the G4, G3, and G2.

Agreed.... The cracking from Jerry rig everything where he scratches the glass does not look the punctured ones. When mine broke on the G5 from nothing I could imagine it was shattered but no puncture wound.

Ok, so I was able to get a pretty good picture of the glass covering my camera lenses and what I am trying to describe about what I think is "different" about mine. Surprisingly, the best picture I could get of it was with my trusty G2 back up phone.

Please post a normal shot. That looks like someone added a skin to it

Right, that's what I'm trying to illustrate with the picture I posted. My glass is fine, but it looks different than what I've seen in the pictures of the broken glass. Looks like it has some type of extra cover (skin) on it that protects the glass. But yes, I'll post a straight on head shot later today when I get home from work.

That's because it comes with a plastic protector on the camera glass. Mine looks exactly like that but I'm not sure it was on all the carrier versions.

The others out of box look like that with the lens plastic still on, but not as thick.

This. Both my V20s look exactly like the photos TNCattleDog has posted. ...because I didn't (and won't) remove the lens protectors. As far as I know, all V20s come like that but some people decided to remove their lens protection.

He says he removed the plastic and there is still a recessed area around the cameras

I don't know.... Just looks weird... I'll take a photo of mine

Looking at it again it looks like the plastic is still installed so I don't know what you removed.

There was a very thin circle of plastic on the finger print sensor and a similar thin piece of plastic film over the camera lenses on mine when I opened it up. The plastic film on the lenses had a small white tab on it to facilitate removal. The plastic on the finger print sensor did not. There was also no cutouts for the lenses, range finder and flash.

They must have added another thin layer over the existing plastic protector. My phone did not have plastic with a tab over the camera. So at this point we probably the same thing. I can only guess that they probably did that do people would stop removing the glass protector.
