On my 6th GNEX ...has anyone ever got one that's a Phone?

I just got my 5th in 10 days and I think this one might be the keeper. First off Ebay, then refurbished replacements from Verizon. All of them had an issue of dropped signal on both Wifi and cell radios. I also had the grey bar issue I posted elsewhere.

This one today has been good so far: 0% time without signal. The best any of the other 4 could do is 25%. We'll see what happens when I get home where my TBolt had 4 bars and 4g rock solid but I haven't had a single GNEX with more than one bar or 3g yet.

Fingers crossed.

You need to demand a non refurbished phone perhaps? To answer I've only hadvthis gnex it's always worked great I had glitches that seemed to self resolve...

Even with old radios this phone has almost outperformed any of my older phones in calls

We have had 3 in our house for 6 months (one was lost) and none of them have had any issues. If you have had this many GNs with the same issue.. sounds like it is probably network related. Specifically, the interaction with the GN and the network in your area.

What exactly is the MCOP problem? Is it where you keep talking but the other side can't hear you?

Receiving #5 today, all had issues w/ dropping data + radio signal when on 4G. When on 3G, works fine. Its good to hear some people have had luck with replacements, hopefully I can get a working device before I hit a dozen replacements, haha

Hope you finally got a proper gnex man. Just wanted to point out that the gnex, well ICS, reports signal differently. So you can't compare your TBolt to the gNex. Read up on this below.

This is why your Verizon Nexus signal "sucks" - Galaxy Nexus - RootzWiki

Yes, the MCOP is when you keep talking and the other person cannot hear you any more. Sometimes its a direct drop of the mic, sometimes its a degraded, choppy drop until it is totally gone.

I now have #7 in my hands and it's seems, relatively ok. I had one drop today, and i'm hoping it was a signal issue and not the MCOP. If it is, my head just might explode .. :)

Of course, they all worked for 3 days... come on lucky number seven!

Isn't this a known issue that is probably.location based not phone based.?

I was under impression radio update is expected at some.point

Question about exchanging the Gnex. Ive had the same one since launch day, which works with no problem, but i dropped it and cracked the screen. I have insurance through Verizon, does Asurion send you refurb phone or brand new? I'm scared to replace it if i get a refurb with issues.

Probably a refurbished model, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask.

My wife and I both have our original Gnex's... I picked mine up in January and she picked hers up in March. At first it was only mine having issues, mainly mic drops. However, the past two weeks it's gotten so bad for both of our phones (on separate plans) that every call the mic cuts out, there's a screeching sound, or our voices start sounding like robots or heavily garbled. Unfortunately we both use these for our business phones and can no longer make calls on them. I've never had a phone that gave me this much trouble. Which I hate because I love everything else about it. Neither one of us are really sure what to do at this point as no one can get a straight answer about what the problem is exactly. We could keep going through different phones, but I have a feeling it will not fix the issues.

Well, this is it. Lucky # 7 is ....not. It gets both the MCOP and the radio reboot on the same phone...

I was in denial about it for a few days..maybe it was a signal drop, maybe it was the other person's phone, maybe...

Nope.. I hope to have had the last one of my customers say.." i can't hear you.."

Tomorrow Verizon is putting me in an S3.

Wish me luck.

I'm having the sane problems but VZW says no refurbished S3

Got switched to a S3 after four phones. Love the software, but hardware is a joke.

Wild that you've had such bad luck, bridger. My first had a screeching problem now and then when on calls, but my second has had no issues whatever making calls. Very odd that you got so many duds.

Went through 3 from Dec15th to June 20. Finally could not take it any more. Same mic cut out problem. All my friends family and customers were complaining. I loved the Nexus so much that I kept waiting for the next handset or 4.0.4 or something.
Nothing worked. Now have a Motorola Razr and it works great as a phone! Pulls in 4g signal great. Display is great. The battery life is better (non Maxx) and it has Gorilla glass. The Gnex feels better in the hand and has a nice panorama camera mode but It never worked dependably as a phone.

So, i've been in the S3 for two weeks. it has a few quirks, but for the most part its the real deal..still have my gnex...maybe a software update down the road will fix it..for now it's relegated to the beach/pool phone status...

for those of you still with the MCOP..good luck.. i wish i did this sooner.

Receiving a S3 today after 5 GNex phones. I my issues were overheating, random restarts & touch screen problems. Sucks because I like this phone.

On my second Gnex, I was offered an S3 at the upgrade price and I get to keep the Gnex or trade it for a MAXX.

I'm a little gun shy of the Sim card error people are getting with the S3 right now... bah

I'm still using the same one I got on release day
