OnePlus 6 vs other flagship phones

No. OP6 is one of the best value for the money, but if they would cost the same, I would go with Samsung S9+, or wait for Pixel 3, or iPhone X.

I have the oneplus one, three and now six. I had a hard time paying the $579 for the 8gb/128gb model but it is still less expensive than the other flagship phones with the same specs. Once they go above $600 I will look at something else.

In my opinion, championing the OP lineup, until they fix their face, is similar to arguing that Walmart grocery shopping is better than authentic gourmet cuisine prepared by an actual chef because the actual chef might be a few dollars more per meal. That's ludicrous, IMO. Is it easier to shop at Walmart? Maybe, I wouldn't know. Is it genuinely better? In no way, ever. By any criteria. And that doesn't take into account Amazon Essentials.

Love your analogies 😁

I think the OP'S s question is kind of ridiculous because the initial draw of the OnePlus line has been bang for the buck. If the phones were priced like flagship phones then reviewers would be panning the device for what it does not have. Because of the price point, the OnePlus phones get a trade off of "it's missing these features, but look what you get for the price" response.

I would not buy a OnePlus if it were priced like the Samsung or iPhone or Pixel flagship devices.

I dont think its ridiculous question..
They are a copycat of other phones out there with no innovation like the other 3 companies you mentioned ...I mean come on you can get other cloned phones for even less of the oneplus phones...their price is increasing every year and will get close to flagship prices once they add other features...if I wanted that like I said I get it done with cloned phones much cheaper.
Speed of oneplus phones against other flagship phones is almost non existent since 2017 and up

I do agree with your analogy of OnePlus' marketing: "it may be missing features W and X, but it has Y and Z and that makes it a good device for the price."

I'd pay $1500 for OP6 with an S9+ screen, stereo speakers and camera, and Qi enabled and 4000 mah battery

I'd pay $1500 for a S9+ with OP6 sofware with same speed and smoothness and flat screen and 4000 mah battery

I wouldn't pay more than $600 for either the actual S9+ or OP6

Now that's interesting )

With or without OnePlus fixing their security?

With or without OnePlus fixing their security?
Do you mean their security in the ordering process? Already been fixed. Security in relation to their devices being or not being vulnerable? Everyone is pretty well up to date with security patches.

I don't know what security at OnePlus needs fixing. Care to elaborate?

Fraudulently claiming to be PCI compliant is a good place to begin. Then there was the surreptitious collection and transmission of user data. Then there is the report earlier this year of HTC being just behind HTC as the worst OEM for providing monthly security updates. I've recently read about OnePlus not actually implementing the hotfixes as expected. And more or less, @Jerry Hildenbrand from AC said it best, "OnePlus either doesn't care or isn't capable of handling user data properly. Either way, it means they don't deserve any of it". https://www.androidcentral.com/oneplus-buck-stops-here

The collection of user data has been switched off . I can also remove that program as a consumer from my phone. That was done last year. OnePlus also said the collection wasn't malicious but understands how people can think it is thus the option to shut it off and remove. I have gotten very timely Security patches. I am up to date in that area, so I am not sure what you are referring to.

Methinks we are looking at the same info but I am seeing where OnePlus corrects their mistakes, and you are not giving them credit for it.

Are you running the beta? I've said this earlier, but updates are decent, as far as timing, if people are on the beta, but stable builds are frequently far (can be months) behind.

Yes. I am on the Beta build. I have found them to be incredibly stable.

I turned on the swipe features, and while it took about an hour or two to get used to, I LOVE them!

The swipe gestures reminds me of BB10 days. I think there is more that can be done with swipes, so let's hope OnePlus explores other swipe options.
