I have Asus AC router and all my iPhones, iPad, Apple TV, laptops connect automatically to 5 ghz channel, but note 7 doesnnt. Based on device speeds it should auto connect at 5ghz. Is there some setting to enable 5ghz?

What model do you have? Curious since some carriers (*cough* Verizon *cough*) seem to do really odd things to their phones, like fuss with settings menu or disable random features that you would think a wireless carrier would have no reason to fuss with.

Do you see anything related to 5GHz in the WiFi settings?

Yah I could but I bought router specifically so I can have 1 sid and based on phone capacity it should smart allow either on 2.4 or 5ghz.

I have 12 devices connecting on router and this is the only new device on 2.4Ghz, and some legacy devices too.

Don't shoot the messenger! I didn't design the phone but I offered you 2 possible solutions because of its limitations. It's your choice if you use either.

I have a TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750, and have both 2.4 and 5.0 channels. When I'm relatively close to the router, my (Verizon) Note 7 defaults to the 5.0. When I get further away (basement, yard) the Note 7 switches over to 2.4.

I'm having trouble with it too. My best channels are there but when I connect it drops a lot and defaults to something else. Very unusual for me.

yah it's the phone itself, nothing to do w/ channels/router.. not sure where to force it to use 5Ghz.

Could be the router. I just finished a Cisco Meraki wifi install (47 APs) and there is an option to direct the user to the 5ghz connection if capable. Also found this issue on xda, it might help.

S4 will not automatically connect to 5Ghz Wi… | Samsung Galaxy S 4 i9500, i9505, i9505G, i9506
My settings are all correct w/router. Use it fine with everything else. Could be a setting I approved on N7 setup. Need to poke around more. It's going back anyway so no worries here.

Finally fiddled with router and forced it to connect to 5ghz only, now getting great speeds 250Mbps, but no where near apple tv wireless speeds (400+Mbps), even thought both devices are 7ft from router in open sight.

Note 7 storage is probably slow too. Ultimately specs on paper don't mean a thing in samsung case lol.

It's been nothing but problems when forcing to connect 5ghz, frequent disconnects,, left it to 2.4ghz and it has been very stable

Was for me to then decided to restart my router. Been good to go every since.

I have no issues and I have ASUS router I set my router up to automatically reboot once a week

I have the Asus RT-AC3100 and the mobile app prompts me to switch to 5 GHz for better speed and it does, but it stills show the N7 on 2.4 GHz. Idk...
