Optimizing G4 battery thread

Where are the Gmail sync settings? looking for the time period to sync such as 15 min, 30 min etc...?

Can't do that with Gmail, it's either push or manual, no intervals. If you have other accounts like hotmail or Yahoo, you can set those up in the Gmail app and sync on intervals.

Standby time is insane

Well this might just be on par with my old Z2 (since sold) i unplugged my G4 at 09:30 and just picked it up now 19:50 (was using my S6E today).

And its still at 100% even after typing this out 😀

Re: Standby time is insane

LG has done something with the software for marketing purposes. 100-99 always takes forever. Mine doesn't drop to 99 overnight. Then each percentage goes down much, much faster. They want you to think all 100% is going to have this sort of standby time. I'm guessing it's more of a reporting thing than actual standby time.

Test it out. Charge it to say 95% then see how long it takes to go to 94% and I guarantee it won't be near as long as 100-99.

Re: Standby time is insane

Yeh but i expected after 10hrs there would of been some drop.

It was connected to my wifi and receiving stuffs so you would assume after that period there would be a drop.

I know that after it drops to 99% its then a steady decline or rapid if your in beast mode 😜

Re: Standby time is insane

Yours must have unicorn hairs in the battery. Mine was left overnight on Airplane Mode and it lost about 8%. Not terrible for 7 hours, but not magical either.

Re: Standby time is insane

I charge before bed every night and it is always still at 100% when I wake up. Go to bed at 9:30 and wake up at 5:30. I do not turn on airplane mode either.

Yeh was just a bit surprised as it was receiving stuff and alot of emails would of been received and fb etc.

Must be the pixies lol

For those changing each apps individual permissions: Are you keeping "keep awake" checked, or un checking? I'm just curious if by turning that access off, an app could keep having to wake up, causing excessive kernel wakelocks, and actually causing the opposite effect (worse battery life).

Yeah, I definitely agree.
It takes forever for it to charge from 95%-100%, too, and especially 99%-100%. And then when I unplug, I stay at 100% for a hell of a lot longer than I ever did with my Nexus 5; despite using the device, it stays at 100% for quite awhile. Even then, it very slowly drips down to 97% and 96%.

Yeah I'm realizing for the first time ever in my life, I don't even need to plug the phone in overnight. o_O It's a very...weird (in a pleasant way) experience.

I've turned 'keep awake' off on probably 75% or more off the apps in the list. I'm not seeing that as a negative. I've posted my results for the last 2 days in the thread.

Basically I have 14 hours up time, 5 hours SOT, Wi-Fi always on, running VPN, Gmail push, 2 exchange accounts, push notifications from Twitter, this forum, tapatalk, slickdeals.

If my SOT changes from that, I might change them to see the difference but no need for that at the moment.

Just got my Anker quick charger - I'll have to try it later. I don't need to charge right now.

Where is this list of apps located where i can turn "keep awake" off?

3rd day of results with my settings and usage. Needless to say, I'm happy.

Forgot to charge my Surface last night so the phone got more use in a shorter time than usual.

Nothing changed today except I had a 40 minute phone call with Sprint.

what in the world do you have your screen set to? I feel like I get good battery life but I don't think I can get that much screen time, though I haven't really tried.
Today I started turning GPS on only if I need it, because of the constant TMO app using the GPS.

So I need to use that with nova launcher? I guess I don't understand. Maybe make a new post tutorial?

No, you don't need Nova. Just look at the post that I linked and follow those directions. You just need to download that app from the play store. The other way was to use Nova but ignore that.

I didn't care for the way the phone handled auto brightness so I bought Lux and I use that. For me it works great. I love the screen and how bright it can be but I don't enjoy staring at that bright of a screen.

I'll try that out.. today I noticed that my android system is draining the battery (random) and discovered it was location. I mean I got 9 hrs our of the battery and still have 50% left but tomorrow I'll give it a day of switching the GPS on and off (when I need it) and see how it fairs.

I'm going to check out lux right now.

Is it that T-Mobile app that you can't control with Access Lock?
