ordered a nexus s on ebay just want to make sure i understand

this is a complete stock nexus s (t-mobile) but i hear if i install cm7 i wont have to root,

so

step 1. download cm7 from their site

step 2. move the file to root of SD card

step 3. boot into recovery (volume up/poewr on) wipe data, factory reset

step 4. wipe cache partition

step 5. install the zip from SD card

step 6. reboot using the recovery option

step 7. enjoy cm7?

but what is this i hear about having to unlock a boot loader? and also that the nexus s doesnt come with clockwork recovery and u have to install it manualy O_O

i thought these google phones were the most custom friendly :S

They are the most custom friendly we have a ton of roms and unlocking the boot loader takes access to a PC which they assume everyone who wants to hack the phone has. I don't I had to use a friends laptop to unlock my bootloader and install ClockWorkMod Touch Recovery. I just have no use for a laptop other than the occasional need to root a phone or like this bootloader ordeal I just use a friends laptop
