Oreo first impressions

Samsung Note 8 is nothing but 100% pure GARBAGE!!!! First time I didn't buy an iphone and decided to go with an Android phone and it's the WORST mistake I've ever made. The phone is basically a $1,000 Garbage!!!!! The freaken battery life lasts about 2 hours if you're lucky on a good day. Enough bloatware where it basically takes up 1/3 of your space right out of the box. I made one freaken phone call this morning and the battery is down to 39%!!!!!!!!WTF!!!!! Just nothing but GARBAGE!!!!!
Contact your carrier and see if you can get a replacement?

I’ve owned my Note8 for nearly 7 months now and I haven’t got much bad things to say about it.

Battery life on mine isn’t terrific but I regularly get 5-6 hours of SOT over 18 hours of daily use, sometimes more, sometimes less based on usage.

I agree with the Moderator. Mr. Hwang must have a faulty phone. Although no phone is perfect, mine comes close.

What the heck is going on with the new update for Note 8???? It has turned my phone into a $1,000 GARBAGE!!!!

Whenever I plug it in, it now tells me that the Fast Charging doesn't work. I'm using the original charger that came with the phone.

I took it into ATT store where I bought the stupid thing and they can't do anything on their end and told me to contact Samsung directly so I did that about 8 times and they redirected me to go to Best Buy where there is a Samsung guy, which then told me that he can't do anything and I had to call Samsung AGAIN and this time they told me to contact Google!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!
At least with iPhones you take it into any Apple store that is in every major shopping centers and malls and they have people there that can work on your phone on the spot. Stupid Androids don't have stores and you have to call the Samsung and deal with automated BS just to get redirected to the wrong place again. Call Google??? Who the heck and I supposed to ask for??? Larry Paige????
JUST RIDICULOUS!!!!!! $1000 GARBAGE!!!!! I will never purchase another Android POS Garbage in my lifetime.

Sell it and get an iPhone.

If your battery is lasting 2 hours you're doing something wrong. You might want too look at your settings and find out what's destroying your battery. Feel free to upload screenshots of battery usage and screen on time if you can't figure it out; people around here are pretty helpful

Well, it's been a long while since installing Oreo.

My verdict? It feels exactly like Nougat. Battery life is largely the same (maybe a little better) and overall performance is still solid.

PIP, LDAC and other improvements are welcome, but overall, it's just a solid underpinnings update

Oreo is garbage as a whole they could of added improvements on the camera they want you to get the N9 battery life is garbage moderate to heavy use 9 1/2 hours
Heavy use 7 to 8 hours nougat was better phone freezes more lags more
Maybe if I factory reset the phone it could be better but installing everything all over again I just don't feel like it

I'm so glad you are enjoying the update and that some things have been running smoother for you! Hopefully battery life does prove to be better for you as well! Keep us posted!

I am not having any issues with battery life yet. I miss the having the ability to have individual text notification sounds.

Did I get the golden nugget?

I'm surprised so many have issues. Yet somehow, the only things I can complain about are little nitpicks

Annoyed that the notification count badge on the email (and other) app icons does not permanently remain to indicate number of unread emails, but rather disappears after the notification badge is swiped on lock page or if app opened, emails remain unread, app closed. Seems no simple setting adjustment fix. Annoyed.

Still no fix setting adjustment for this ?

Agreed 100% with this!

I actually tend to forget that I am on Oreo on my Note8, same when I had the Mate10 Pro review unit.

Oreo is mostly under the hood improvements, my battery life is mostly the same, maybe a little better, and performance has seen a slight improvement here and there.

Is that somehow linked to the notification shade?

Nova does the same

Nova doesn't do that for me. I can delete the notification and have the badge remain until I click on the app. Only then does my notification disappear. I use Nova and Tesla for this.

I have a locked Note 8 on t-mobile and I have the device maintenance problem since the Oreo update. CPU is being destroyed by system_server to the tune of 13+ percent. Battery life went from 18 hours to 9 hours after the update. Has anyone found a fix for this? It's ridiculous
