Oreo gripes

It's on the play store. And after I posted I looked at mine and android O is an option for the theme I'm using (swift black) but I have a S8+ and was thinking about picking up a used pixel xl or getting the new one when it's released, and just wanted to know if anyone has tested Substratum out yet on O.
Tried substratum and the current app complains it doesn't have root.

How do you clear cached memory? I don't see it under storage anymore.

The change to DND is annoying and the new usage not immediately obvious.

You need to:

  1. Pull down Notification shade
  2. Pull it down *all* the way
  3. Tap the "Do not disturb" dropdown
  4. Slide the slider at top-right of screen to the On position
  5. Now (finally!) you can select the time options.

I sincerely hope Google will "fix" this mess soon. :(

If you set DND using the volume down key the time options are available.

Just saw on reddit the battery burn graph is gone from quick settings panel too.

That option is gone I think. Something about each app is given a cache allocation which forces devs to manage their own cache. I think you can still clear cache on individual apps.

Yeah,, the option to clear cache in stock recovery has never been an option for the Pixel.
Its always been like that .

Not sure if I missed the answer but you can clear the the cache for your whole phone by going to storage, tapping cache and it will ask to clear. I did it occasionally when I first got the phone (a month now) but I heard you shouldn't do it too often. I think you should do it once before and after updating to Oreo. I did and I haven't really seen anything funky going on. My major issue was/still is the BT connectivity to my car. I have to have it on before I turn my car on for it to connect properly. Easy fix is to just turn it on before I turn my car on.

Not in "stock" Oreo on a Google Pixel XL:

Clicking Free Up Space just takes you to a list of downloads, etc., and asks which you want to get rid of.

Just curious, N4Newbie - what do you have on your phone for photos and videos that's taking up almost 8GB of space? I hope those aren't photos/videos that aren't being backed up... ;)

Not so much as you might think!

I guess it adds up pretty quickly, with the average photo being 2 - 3 MB.

All are backed up to Google photos in the cloud and the really important stuff is also on my PC.

I wonder what Google Photos will say when you click the "free up space" button?

"Backed up photos & videos: 7.05 GB"

The difference *might be* one or two TV episodes I have downloaded in the Netflix app.

Just updated on pixel XL. It won't let me flip through recently used pages. When I tap the square button on the right it does nothing. Before I updated it would let me flip through recently used pages but now it does nothing. Only when I hold it does it let me use split screen but I don't want split screen. I want to be able to flip back and forth full screen like before. Is this something that was eliminated? Or a bug? Even Google support couldn't answer me.
