Oreo update notifications

I have the S7 and just got the Oreo update last night . I like to dismiss my notifications from the lock screen, but now when I do that, the badge notification on the app disappears. Is there anyway to change this? I want to keep the red dot or the numbers on the apps that have a notification that I dismissed from the lock/notification screen

In short - things change. Google implemented a notification badge system in Oreo, what you're seeing is the way that system works. Samsung decided to utilize what Google gave them rather than reinvent the wheel, with one change - adding a number count. The badge system is now based on the notifications in the notification panel/drawer.

Thanks for the clear answer "In short". I have been looking for few hours now for a solution to this problem, as I thought "there must be a way to dismiss the notification on the notification bar, while keeping the badges" till I saw this answer. However, it is clear that lots of users are frustrated about this. Is anyone listening? These 2 were always separate; why now change it in this frustrating way. Where should I complain?

Samsung. Samsung adopted the Google method rather continuing with the way it was on the Samsung Experience....

Many people are irritated with it, many people are glad for it.

Nova Launcher (paid version) with TeslaUnread for Nova Launcher (free add-on) does it the old way or the new way, your choice. (There are also about a dozen other changes from stock launchers you might like.)

Welcome to the forums. Have you already tried the 'snooze' feature included in Oreo? This is not exactly what you are asking but it could help you to declutter your status bar when you are busy and still be able to get that notification back after a period of time that you can select. You will still lose the badge but the notification won't be lost and it will pop up later. Worth a try.
