if true im picking it up for sure. Then 3 months from now sell it off and buy the bionic at full price. If you think about it thats still cheaper than waiting for a Bionic at upgrade price which will probably be $300.

So heres hoping the word on the street is true.

Ah, damn. I was literally about to head out the door to get my Charge when I read this! BMX tells me I'm gonna love it. But do you or anyone else know if they're offering any discount when buying it as an upgrade? I'm looking and its still $249 for an upgrade?? How do I get this at the new customer price, or at least cheaper than $249?

If you select a new plan when you add it to your cart, it goes in for $179. If you select an upgrade for a current plan, its still $249... WTF?

Damn, that's what I'm wondering. Now that I know for sure there won't be any other LTE phones until late August, and I know I'm getting the Charge, I don't want to wait another few days, haha. But I'd feel really stupid if I could have gotten it for free, or at least a good discount, if I had only waited a bit longer...

Any disadvantage to using Amazon vs. retail, esp. for things like insurance/warranty?

Yeah, all I can think is that Amazon gets more credit for getting VZW new contracts than simply for doing upgrades, giving them less incentive. Still, its hard to imagine them offering that much difference in price. My NE2 is only $50, so even $179 would be enough to make me buy from them.

If i can get it for 100 or less this monday, Im 100% sure ill be in the Charge forum next monday. If not then i really dont know. 250 or 300 is kinda high, since i do still want bionic in 3 months.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Even if its OMAP4, the Bionic is still gonna have a 1st gen LTE chip, so it will get outdated just as fast as the Charge. The Charge will almost certainly have the better screen, and likely camera if the DX2 is any indication. Not to mention its unlikely the Bionic will have an unlocked bootloader yet, while we already have custom ROM's and kernels for the Charge (even the DX doesn't have kernels yet). I know it sounds like sour grapes, but the fact is, I'm starting to realize that the Bionic won't be much more future-proof than the Charge, and the Charge has advantages over the Bionic.

The Moto will still likely be a bit better, but not as much as I thought. If I wait till August, I'll likely miss out on unlimited data, and I'll be seeing the newer, 2nd gen LTE devices that will make me want to pass on the Bionic by the time it actually comes out. Not to mention that it'll be that much longer till my next upgrade, and I'll have to stick out the rest of the summer on this Versa dumbphone.

All sources indicate that we won't see another LTE phone until August, and the Charge is by far the most attractive to me out of our options. Its way too long to wait for the gen2 LTE devices, and I'm sick of waiting for the Bionic. Looking at where development already is for the Charge compared to the issues recent Moto's are having, I simply see no reason to keep waiting for what is a slightly better device in the same generation.

I'd love to get it cheap on Amazon, but even if its not on sale, I'll be getting it from VZW or Best Buy on Monday. I'm sick of being a huge Android fan from day one, yet still being stuck on a Versa. BMX has given his approval to the Charge, and thinks its a much better device than the T-Bolt or Rev, and I agree.

is this going to be for upgrades too or just new customers.. i honestly have a bad feeling it'll be for only new customers. HOWEVER, if they give it to upgrading customers for $50 (or even 100, shhh) i'll be over it like white on rice.

That's the million-dollar question. There are different prices for new, single upgrade, and family upgrade. I'm the lead account on a family plan, so I assume I can get the individual upgrade price, but that's still $199 at the moment. I'm really hoping we'll see something under $99 upgrade on Monday, all these recent Bionic leaks make it that much harder for me to pay $250 for a Charge...

Same boat here. I don't want to bay $250, but even if it hits at $200, I'm done waiting. The Charge is awesome.
