OTA Gingerbread 2.3 update now available........... for Droid X

I'm confused by this post. What's the point of it?

The Thunderbolt will probably get Gingerbread by the end of July.

Yeah, no kidding, why does that matter.

Guess what else! 3.1 released for the XOOM before 3.0 even released for the Galaxy Tab! Wait...who cares...that's just as useless as your post...

I think the point was the recently released Thunderbolt has yet to get Thunderbolt than the much older Droid X. (I'm not saying I agree With OP)

And that would generally be the case. Older devices allow for longer development time which should theoretically give updates sooner.

There's no reason for this to be in the thunderbolt forums...

...except to troll

Heh it is kind of a valid point though. If the older phones are getting GB then why couldn't this newer one be shipped with GB?

You're obviously not in any IT related field. You always update old equipment before new equipment. Goes for code development as well. The developers know the Droid X inside and out and are still trying to get a 100% grasp of the newer phones.

The OP means nothing. I have GB running. I don't know many people who run stock phones. Some of us don't like being told how we should be using our paid devices.

Thanks for your contribution.

It would matter to some, but perhaps not others.

I got my same post quoted twice by the same guy in less than 10 minutes. I guess he changed his mind on his response to me...

Being shipped with GB would not be an update. Are you saying all new phones should be shipped with Android 1.5 Cupcake, then upgraded to each newer OS from there?

You must be in an IT related field, I don't know many people who are running rooted phones. Some of us don't like to be told how we should be using our paid devices, including bricking them. ;)

Of course not I'm a artist. And no matter what it could have shipped with gingerbread. I WONDER how this phone would have been as the original 3g design.
