It does appear to be on hold, but given the number of this device out there it is possible your number (figuratively speaking) hasn't come up yet.

When I connect my Dinc to my computer, it show file folders for removable disk (G: ) and for removable disk (H: ). I'm not sure which one would be the SD card, if not both. Removable disk (G: ) was a FAT32 file system,so I transferred the update.zip. Unfortunately, when I put my dinc into Hboot it said something about checking SD and then went back to the normal Hboot screen. Should I maybe try changing the removable disk (H: ) to a FAT32 file system? Please help?

When there are two drives the second one is (almost) always the memory card. If you are using the 2GB SD card that came with the phone then it IS FAT (FAT16) and yes you will need to convert it. Copy the files to your computer, format the drive to FAT32 and then copy your files back.

So, call me anal, but I want to wait for the update to get pushed out to me. Can anyone say if any updates have gone out since Thursday? It appears as though the updates have stopped while they fixed the "Sprint" bugs. Any input?

Wow, this ota update has been slowwwwww. Nothing here yet and I always got the previous update the third day after announcing it was out.

Not working for me...

HTC Droid Incredible (first version, not DINC2).
A good while back I did a manual install of the Froyo OTA (manually installed, non-rooted, just like these instructions, downloaded from Google's android URLs and everything).

HBOOT fails to recognize update.zip, and any attempts to wipe/factory reset have failed. I've even tried another SDCard to no success. It is "update.zip" and the MD5 sum matches with the instruction's.

I couldn't get it to recognize the update.zip either, but then I found the below instructions from someone who posted above, and it worked for me. Give it a whirl. Good luck!

You can still force the update. Once you're in HBOOT, scroll down with VOL down to recovery. Hit the power button, It will reboot again and you will see an icon in the middle with a triangle and "!". Then push Vol up and Power at the same time and you will see a menu with blue wording. You scroll down to Apply update.zip from sd card. hit the power button and it should start!

Unfortunately I've tried that as well, it fails even during the recovery method. :(

I have gone through all the steps, and the hboot won't recognize the update.zip file. the drive is FAT32, and the update.zip file is placed at the root of my SD card. Anything else I can try?

I managed to get it to install.

Even though I did not have a rooted phone and I did a manual OTA for Froyo, I had to reinstall an OTA of Froyo and then attempt the update again.

See here:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/incredible-rooting-roms-hacks/91779-guide-preparing-your-htc-droid-incredible-gingerbread-ota.html

Even though I wasn't rooted, I followed the "For Rooted Users Who Want to Un-root and Accept the OTA - Un-rooting" portion of the guide, and it worked perfectly.

I'm now a happy Gingerbread man!

I'm guessing I had a buggy Froyo OTA install from the beginning...

Troubleshooting the Manual OTA Install Thoughts Revisited....

Thanks to Stig and Muddy and everyone for their contributions so far. There are Extensive Instructions for the Manual Update on the FIRST Page of this thread. I added a SIMPLE version....BUT....if you are experiencing problems..... you will want to check each step per Stig's post.

Back up your Phone!

IF your phone does NOT recognize the Update Automatically....you likely have overlooked something or you phone is Not "Stock". (altered)

Your Phone must be STOCK.....in other words NOT Rooted for this method to work. If you are Rooted, try "Nils GingerSense" or one of the other flashable ROMs available....NOT this OTA.

If you are still having Problems, consider these "Common Problems"

First: Did you copy the Update file to the "Root" directory of your SD Card? This simply means that it is NOT in a folder like "Downloads" .....or any other folder, but instead is placed directly on the SD Card by itself along with any other subjects and folders. I did this with Windows Explorer. The drive where you place it will be..."Drive D,E,F,G removeable disk etc.".....or likely whichever is the Last removeable drive under "My Computer".

Second: Rename the file to "update". The original download file is a "Zip" file already.....and the "zip" extension will be automatically attached by Windows to the new name. If you name it "update.zip"....it will appear as "update.zip.zip" and NOT be recognized.

Third: ******* Did you manually update to Froyo?******. Check your SD Card for another "update" file. If one already exists......Rename it to "Froyo" or something else other than "update". There should Only Be One "Update" File on the SD Card, and it should be the New GingerBread Update File.

Fourth....did you Disconnect your Phone from the Computer and then power it down? I know it sounds simple.....but I've seen it.

Also.....if you are Still struggling with the Update.....you may need to Reformat or swap your SD Card. Again.....refer to Stig's Thorough Instructions on Page One of this thread to do this.

Your Manual Update should be SIMPLE....as layed out on Page One http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-droid-incredible/116534-ota-gingerbread.html.

If it is NOT that simple, then you likely have other issues.....or your phone is not "Stock". In that case.....you might consider a "Factory Reset" back to "Stock" and then apply the Update. Or you can wait for your OTA.....which seems to have stalled.

Don't lose sleep over this either. Seriously....Yes, the phone is Faster and Smoother and the Update is an overall improvement. I have personally had Zero issues with my phone and the Update.....while others have had some problems. But, it won't change your life....it's nothing Radical....and it's not worth getting upset over or taking unnecessary risks!

As Always....Do this at YOUR OWN RISK....as I am merely offering these instructions to help and assume NO Responsibility.

Hope this is Helpful Good Luck....D
