OTA Gingerbread!

I followed the instructions and it says "E: Cant open /cache/recovery/command, also it says "E: failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip... any ideas? Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

yeah, I get the same thing. Tried it three times, no luck. I double checked that I named it correctly

For those still awaiting the OTA, this is the reply I got from VZWSupport (Twitter):
The date when the software update will resume is not available at this time.

I noticed that text seems smaller in menus and in the browser. Is this normal?

i DL the gingerbread update and installed it but really didn't see that big of a difference. thanks for the links

Loaded manual gb when it came out. Low space errors, low storage, apps disappear, etc. Yesterday, it bricked itself. Finally got it to reboot and it factory reset itself! Now spending the weekend trying to reload my apps, which appbrain did not help with, and put everything back to right. Irritated....

When is verizon going to push out a quality gingerbread build that isn't full of bugs? Already October and not everybody has gingerbread.

None of my apps that I got from the Amazon appstore work anymore unless I have a data connection. Is this happening to anyone else?

I just spoke to Victoria at VZW Data Services Department and she confirmed that the latest OTA has been suspended indefinitely until HTC releases a fixed version. No timeline given as to when the OTA will resume.

it worked for me, i copied it to phone first, then moved it to sd card afterwards, put into hboot, now its loading!!! bout damn time!!!lol:D

So the Casio g-zone whatever got its GB update, and we are still stuck with nothing but messed up phones and anticipation. I swore off of Samsung devices because of this lack of update support. I am frustrated and dissapointed in HTC and Verizon.

I wish I could just order the Vigor already......

I'll bet the Nexus Prime will change your stance about Samsung. Don't those Nexus phones get straight updates directly from Google?

Considering HTC's track record lately, I'm not counting on the Vigor being perfect either.

Wow.. after reading all of this, i'm glad I didn't do the manual GB update.
