OTA link

Thanks again. It almost seems like just unrooting or reverting back to stock would be easier (for my simple mind) and then applying the update manually. I've found a couple videos/instructions on how to unroot, but my last question is can I unroot without a PC? Can I download the file directly to my Incredible and then rename/run it??

No idea if you can unroot without a PC -- sorry. And you can dl the update directly to the phone, but at least a few people are having problems doing it that way.

Has anyone esle noticed that with Froyo .wav files won't play? If anyone else has seen this happen and knows a work around, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Ah no problem schwartsman. Team effort. I was just the lucky one to be staring at my log file when it came through. Then I was do damn sleepy I could barely think strait after I found out it worked for people I crashed. I was way to tired to try to make instructions and all. Lol

I think that there is a larger question for those rooted with UnREVoked and UnREVoked forever. Since doing the manual process required stock recovery, would stock recovery be required if I receive the OTA on my phone ??

Then the only options are to revert back to stock (not sure how to do this), or go with the RUU. Am I correct in my thought that if I get the OTA on my phone from Verizon, it will have the same problems that other rooted people are having this morning ?

Thanks

I'm getting the same error a lot of folk are getting, only I'm 1000% sure I don't have an extra .zip at the end of the file name.

I'm getting this as well

For those getting the Status 7 Error, this is what I figured out.

Back in May there was a small OTA update, I never got it, so my software code on my phone was 1.22.605.0 that OTA update changed it to 1.22.605.2

Go here: HTC Incredible/Guides&Tutorials - XDA-Developers

download the may OTA update, put it in your root directory of your SD card, name it update.zip and do follow the same update processes.

Once you have applied this OTA update from May, you can then install the new Froyo OTA update.

Sigh. I'm an idiot. It was named update.zip.zip. :( that's what I get for trying to be technical at 530 in the morning. Lol. Gonna go update. I'll be back

Thank you soo much jollydogg i was following your messages cause i got the same message the first time. Your answer helped me sorry no one stuck it out there for you.

So I dl the 2.2 this morning ran the update like it was described in the posts.

Everything was going fine untill mt Dinc went to go reboot now it keeps restarting.

I really need some help.

Thanks.

First off, thanks to Teslatech for coming through on this.
Early this morning I downloaded it straight to my phone, renamed it, and applied it through recovery. It's been kinda sluggish since. Now looking at the AC homepage it's showing build # 3.16.605.0 but my version is 3.21.605.1? Any idea about this? Sorry for not searching, but I'm stuck in the office trying to close out the month so time's been precious.

Has anyone who has rooted with unrevoked received the ota verizon is pushing out and has had success dowloading the ota and then rerooting their phone? I'm afraid of unrooting; downloading the ota and then not be able to root my inc so that I can get the wireless tethering I have now (I use it way to much to have to loose it). Any replies will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

i keep getting installation error im rooted right now did update.zip thru clockmod because trhats my recovery screen now

I was a little hesitant, but it worked perfectly. I didn't even have to reinstall Swype as some people said was necessary.

I got bad news my friend! The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago after I rooted my phone. At first it was fine and when I downloaded the wireless tether it started doing what you have described. I had to take it to Verizon and the rep told me that it has been happening to about 1 out of 300 phone after an update (not particularly the froyo update she didnt specify). So she just had to order me a new phone which I got 2 days later. Sorry for the bad news! Maybe someone knows a way around this but from what I have experienced your phone is fried!

It took a couple a times before it finally went through .Finally I HAVE FROYO !

Thanks Teslatech ! YEAHHHH AND A BIG HUG FROM ME !

Worked perfectly for me. First time. Thank you. Verizon would of had us wait until October or something. They should have just posted this for us to do ourselves and saved them the network traffic if that is what they were concerned about.

Having issues. Phone was rooted using unrevoked and then unrevoked forever. Downloaded froyo from link, Renamed to update.zip and applied it. Everything went well. phone reboots with droid sound and eye, get to an HTC screen that starts to show %. Get to 96% and phone reboots and starts over at 1%. First time it ran it said phone upgraded sucessfully to ver (cant remember) Any ideas? This has been doing this for 20+ minutes

Are there any benefits to be had by performing this update over the RUU that I installed on Saturday?
