OTA underway

Im still confused... is this just a soak test, or is this a full rollout ?

yes. :D (It's both...those that are in the soak will still provide non-disclosed feedback. Those getting it OTA outside of the soak....enjoy :D)

it seems to be a full rollout, with people that got invites and people that didn't r getting it... by the way haven't seen it yet here in BUCKEYE COUNTRY...

I received the update yesterday and I did not sign up for the soak test. I am in Ollahoma City. I have tried to install 5 times and its failed everytime, about to call them to see if they are having troubles.

It's been what, 36 hours since the OTA started? As I said, it takes up to a week to fully cycle everyone through an OTA. So, yes, there's going to be a lot of "still waiting" posts over the next 5 or so days. Of course, I've done my part to shorten the OTA cycle with the House of Bionic. ;)

Has anyone else had problems rooting their device? I was accepted into the soak test and got the update pushed to me, but when I try to root HOB and 1 click root don't recognize the device even being connected to my PC. Driver's updated, motorola USB cable, and the PC shows connected. Thoughts anyone?

that would be a first, I have been involved in 5 soak test for the xoom, razr and now bionic, this would be a first. where did you get this information from.

They are doing simultaneous ota and soak.

I've never been a soak tester, so dont know how it works. But I assume that if your part of a soak test, provide feedback.. etc and the build is bad as deemed by the testers... that the update gets pulled back from your device. Now, whats the point of having a soak test done simultaneous with a full blown release ? Why bother having soak testers if non testers are getting it anyway. If the build is deemed bad, are they going to strip it back from every non tester ? Seems if this is the case, could be a major blunder once again by Moto and Verizon if this build is bogus.

Not even close to a first. The same thing happened to the d4. And that information came right from vzw.

Oh good. All those who got it OTA since Friday morning when it started pushing will be happy to hear that. LOL :)

Just to further quash the rumors about geography having something to do with when one receives the OTA: I got it on the 19th (and no, I've never signed up for a soak test). Meanwhile, the other Bionic in the household has yet to receive it, and checking under settings reveals that that phone believes itself to be up to date. There are probably criteria that are applied to keep from saturating the VZW network with OTAs, but geography does not appear to be one of them.

It's Tuesday at 10:00 in New Jersey for me, and still no update. I believe it is geography-based. That's why I'm blaming Snookie. ;-)

See, at VZW HQ, they have this giant hamster ball. They throw everyone's MID # inside on little strips of paper. Then, they coat a hamster in peanut butter and have him roll around the room in the ball until he's covered in numbers. They then pull him out and whosever number is stuck to him gets that day's OTA push. This is done until all updates are sent out.

Occasionally the hamster will eat some of the strips of paper. Those people are at the bottom of the list and only get the update after all other numbers are drawn and the missing ones are discovered via process of elimination.

Hope that answers why some people are getting the update and others are not. ;)

Yes, Tuesday. I'm posting from the future. This Monday sucks so hard for me, that its created a space-time vortex so that I can post 23 hours into the future. ;-)
