P6 Power Button Failure

I have my P6 configured to go to the black "screen saver" screen after pressing the power button. After the March update it can now take up to 7 presses to get there. Sometimes when in an app the lock screen will momentarily flash and the the screen goes back to the app. Sometimes it will go to the home screen and take a few presses to go to the lock screen. Once on the lock screen a single press will take it to the screen saver. I was originally using the Nova Launcher but the same thing happens with the Pixel launcher with Nova uninstalled. It even happens after restarting in safe mode.

Do you have a case on? If so, is it the kind with a flipcover or a magnet embedded somewhere?

How do you have the power button remap to black screensaver?

I have a Spigen case. No magnet or front cover. Rubber around the sides and plastic over the back.

I've slept since then but as I recall I disabled all settings / system / gestures, set system navigation to 3 button navigation and press and hold power button to bring up the power menu. Also unlock is set to swipe or something like that. No password or finger print required.
