Pairing my 6P with my Kenwood

I am having issues pairing my Nexus 6P (and my Nexus 6 before it) with my Kenwood DDX371 in dash player. I can get them both to the pairing screen, where you confirm the pairing password. The passwords match on both devices, but when I select pair on each, I get an error on my phone that they could not pair due to password mismatch. Has anyone else seen this issue?

I would check to see if there is a firmware update for the Kenwood. Just a thought.
