Pandora not launching in car

Same problem on Galaxy S9+ in 2014 Subaru Legacy. Worked fine with Galaxy S6, but has never worked on my S9+. Have tried various methods to get it working, none work. App will autolaunch Pandora if and only if Pandora was exactly the last app used. Otherwise, it will not autolaunch. Most times will launch with Google Assistant, but occasionally Pandora crashes and refuses to load unless opened from app icon.

I got an email saying "we thought we fixed this problem already." I said well you did. then the next months update broke it again.

Same problem with a Galaxy S9+ in a 2014 Honda Civic. It worked until a system update applied August 6th. Prior to this I could get in my car and start driving, and if the last thing I was listening to on the car's factory installed head unit was Pandora, there would be a 15 (or so) second silence after starting my car before the car would connect with my phone, start Pandora and then start playing music.

Also, before the update, at worst, it would start Pandora on the head unit, but not play any music, at which I would select to play music via Bluetooth, music would start, then I'd select Pandora on the head unit and everything would work fine.

I haven't yet attempted the possible fix posted by 'Antagonists'.

Same here, I have a s9+ paired with my '18 subaru forester, I used to be able to turn on the car and the auto launch icon would appear on my phone, I'd just tap the pandora icon on my car and I'd be good to go. Now I have to go into settings - advanced - then uncheck "launch from car" then recheck it before it will work. It won't auto launch with the Android auto app either. Hopefully they fix this bug soon.

I'm having the same problem connecting to a Pioneer unit. Pandora connected fine after the OREO update in June. Connection problems began the first time I rebooted my Galaxy S7 after update G930VVRU4BRC2 was installed on August 2.

Maybe the next update will resolve this problem. Otherwise, how does one contact Pandora?

This happened to me this week. Noticed an update to 1808. Luckily I had a
backup from last month and restored 1807.2. Worked like a charm! Play store did an auto update and once again started failing. Just turned off updates and
restored 1807.2 again. It is again working. Has to be Pandora dropping something when doing updates.

I emailed Pandora support and just got a "copy and paste" response saying that they are aware of the problem and are working to fix it.

Just curious, when did you first email them? I submitted a case to Pandora Sunday morning, 4 days ago and have not received a reply. But anyway, at least they are on the case. Maybe a resolution will come soon.

I'm having the same problem with Pandora not launching after updating to Android Pie. I'm using a pioneer head unit and a google pixel cell phone. It only works by doing what stevo82 said by unchecking "launch from car" and then recheck in the Pandora settings. I really hope they fix this soon!

I sent them an email on the 8th and they only got back to me yesterday so it took them a while to respond.

Thanks! I guess it will be fixed when it gets fixed. I subscribe to Pandora for the sole purpose of playing it in my car with full features so hope it gets fixed soon.

Wow, I can't believe all the conversation and no one has offered a fix.

Disable Battery Optimization
1.Go to Settings > Battery > Menu > Battery optimization.
2.Select All apps from the drop down menu.
3.Scroll the list of apps until you find Pandora.
4.Select "Don't optimize."
5.Select Done.

That didn't work either.
I got an update for pandora today and they didn't fix the problem.

anyone remember the version of pandora that it last worked with? I think it was 1807.1 but I just tried downloading that apk and it still didn't work

I stopped battery saver without results like others.
Tried a fix by unchecking any advanced settings which in my case was just the autoconnect to car feature.
Works now that I unchecked it.
Hope this helps someone

the fix for me was to download version 7.4 and install it and turn off automatic updates

yea I didn't download it thru the play store. I googled previous version apk's and installed them
