Pandora not launching in car

Thanks to @JoBudden for giving us a starting version to try out. I searched for version 7.4 and found this one. It's awesome! Unlimited skips, no ads too. Make sure to uninstall your current Pandora version first. Also make sure in the Google play store that you have automatic updates turned off for Pandora or you'll lose this version. And, lastly, make sure you have third party apps allowed to be installed. Download this version from this site. https://mega.nz/#!fdJ0lALD!LTZirY-HnjzXyyGhyDItXnx7ZS8SwX1o9IgD6XZHQnU

btw guys I have been in constant communication with pandora people for literally MONTHS. they had it fixed on one version since oreo dropped on the Samsung phones. I wish I could remember which version that was. I would just download that one.

Thanks JoBudden! Installed the 7.4 version with good results. I hope someone here informs us when an updated version from Pandora fixes this problem and I can install the newest version as I like to keep up to date with any future "real" software updates.

I am having the same issue, upgraded from a s7 to a s9 with same Kenwood Bluetooth sync radio. Auto start and connect does not happen when selecting the pandora option on the deck
Just had a rental car and it did same thing. Would not open from the head unit.

heck thank sc28 too. he provided a link to a better version then the one I initially started with. plus his has unlimited skips and no ads as a bonus! here's hoping they fix their app soon so we don't have to find a work around!

sc28 is officially thanked!

I'm having the same problem connecting to a Pioneer unit. Pandora connected fine after the OREO update in June. Connection problems began the first time I rebooted my Galaxy S7 after update G930VVRU4BRC2 was installed on August 2.

Maybe the next update will resolve this problem. Otherwise, how does one contact Pandora?

Had to register an account so i could tell you guys a "workaround"
I have the same problem on my pioneer mvh-1400nex unit. Tried several things and realized Pandora and oreo are not communicating properly.

The "temporary" fix for me anyway is just to load your app as normal and instead of trying to use the pandora feature on your headunit just select the bluetooth icon instead. It will play media off pandora display song titles and let you pause skip and play even with steering wheel controls. You wont get any pandora specific functionality like thumbs and station control from the headunit but at least you can listen to music from your pandora.

hope this helps someone, might be a obvious "fix" some may have overlooked.
---------------------------------

Now going back to what is wrong with pandora, it was kinda strange. Pandora would not autostart correctly, so i would have to exit pandora car mode<black screen>. Select the station i want to play on normal app screen and then connect it to headunit via pandora car app to have full functionality but after a week even that stopped working....so odd....

The above workaround works .

yea I knew about the bluetooth thing. only problem for me is. we have a hands free law where I live and the fine if caught using your phone in the car is 250$. so I need the full functionality of Pandora so I don't have to use the phone to change stations. haha BTW it's the app. Because using an older version of that app works like a charm.

Again same here for me. I have a s9 paired with my 2017 Subaru Forester. I used to be able to select Pandora on the app screen in the car and it would start playing. If it was the last thing I listened to in the car it would auto start without me selecting anything. Now the only way I can get it to work is to each and every time I turn off the car and restart it, I have to go into the settings on the Pandora app>advanced> then uncheck and check the "launch from car".
As stevo82 said above and many others, I hope a new update fixes this problem.

yea but on page 2 we give you another option and a link to a previous app version that will allow it to work again!

I also downloaded the old version on the previous page and it works perfectly. Can't use it with my android auto app but oh well, I'll take it!

yea that's the one thing that messes up is being able to use it with android auto. unfortunately.

The Pandora app isn't working in my 2015 Chevy Silverado. I have a Samsung S9+. I talked to someone at Chey and was told that Pandora did an over the air update as and it had a big. It won't get fixed until Pandora does another over the air update.

The only issue with pandora 8.6 is that I have to get my phone out and manually open the pandora app before it will connect to the head unit. It's easier than unchecking and rechecking the "auto launch", but it's still kind of annoying.

@Jonathan, make sure your phone's bluetooth is turned on before you turn on your car/stereo and it should automatically open up Pandora. It might take a few seconds

yea I haven't ran into that issue with having to launch the app first either. mine does exactly what it's supposed to now

Just wanted to thank sc28 for the link to the earlier version Pandora app! I installed last night and as soon as I started my car up this morning for my morning commute it worked seamlessly! Thanks so much
