Password Vault Apps

I haven't tried Roboform put your test that you did doesn't lead me to give it a try. FF is my default browser so the app needs to play nice with it in the vast majority of usage.

After the big 2018 Cara hack, I gathered over 180 logons and credentials and now use last pass free version on pc and phone. Works well, but hate the vault interface for organizing things.

Also have an older keypass on gdrive that works on the pc and phone. This is mostly a manual copy of most important stuff in case of lastpass failure.

But, the autofill option of LP is great. All my passes are now too complicated to remember and painful to type.

I've been using Ascendo DataVault through numerous BlackBerrys and 3 different Samsung Android phones. It works well. The PC interface is a bit dated and the phone interface is OK. It keeps the encrypted passwords on the phone/PC. You can synch them by using either WiFi or Dropbox. Ive been very happy with it - not saying I haven't tried a flock of other products - but I keep coming back to DataVault.

I've been using KeePass for many years and it works well. Programs for all devices including portable apps as well as online viewers.
https://keepass.info/download.html
I use the standard KeePass portable app on all my PCs and Virtual Machines.
For my Android phone I use KeePass2Android
On my work iPhone I just switched from KeePass Touch to KeePassium
For online I use KeeWeb.
I sync my database up with both Google Drive and DropBox for redundancy and it is very secure and safe.

For simplicity for my grandmother I had her use the free version of LastPass.

I've been having problems lately remembering passwords on computer and having to change ones at work every so often. Usually Chrome saves and autofills but I still need a good password app to store them all in. My co-worker suggested password keeper but it cost 29.99 a year. I need a good free one and was googling and found this thread. Last Pass seems popular is that one you guys would recommend? I don't really need it to fill in on my phone I just need then stored so I remember them when needed.

Edit: C-Net recommended it I clicked on the link above so I guess I'll try it. So I manually have to add each one in the beginning?

LastPass is free for single device type use. What that means is if you create an account on a computer, you can use it on any computer. If you create on their mobile app, you can use it on any mobile device. You would not be able to create it on a computer, then log in on the mobile app (at least not after the initial 30 day premium trial). Their paid subscription allows access from anything, has prioritized tech support (though I'm currently facing a major problem and dealing with them has been hit and miss, but I'm withholding formal opinion until it's resolved), and a few other benefits.

Yes, in the beginning you'll have to manually add every site unless you're already using another password manager that can export your list. You could do it all manually within the LastPass vault itself, but the easier option may be to just visit your sites normally. When you log in, LastPass will pick up on it and ask if you want to save the login info. When time to change a password, you can edit your vault listing and use the password generator to create very strong passwords. You will still have to manually update the sites, though, and have the old password on hand to verify account ownership. So you do need to be mindful how you do it so you don't lose the old password until you're ready.

Thanks! For now I just got free one on my phone and wanted it mainly to just look up and verify passwords. Chrome saves my passwords byt my Amazon account got hacked then I got an email saying I was trying to change my walmart.com password. And the email I use for both of these wouldn't let me in yesterday and has said type in password and wouldn't take my password so I had to change it also. And just now I was on yahoo and it came in in some funky language and it something popped up on my screen that said check your passwords a data breach or app exposed your password Chrome recommends checking your saved passwords now. That was weird! I don't really use Yahoo Mail much but went there to see if I remembered my log in to put in the app. And I clicked on something and it changed to some language and that message popped up very weird. But ok Thanks! I'll check into the paid version too maybe. I may switch from Chrome after that message i'm kind of scared now and since i got hacked on Amazon.

Keeper does cost $29.99 a year, but with that price you can sync 3 devices. It's handy for me....my phone, wife's phone and my laptop at work. I always have access to my passwords and can easily update & sync as any passwords change. For me, the annual fee is worth it. For others, that might not be worth it. It's all about what each person wants & needs and is willing to spend.

Yes I told my husband about it we may have to pay and get it. I am using last pass now on my phone. But today my Instagram got hacked someone is getting ahold of my accounts. And they changed my email to one similar to the Amazon when I got hacked .ru. It's Crazy! I just changed all my email passwords again.

it may be time to go through and change every one of your passwords on every single account and do two factor where available. you should also do two factor with lastpass. make sure none of the accounts use the same password.

Thanks! I am doing 2 factor on whatever I can and have changed most all passwords.
