PC doesn't recognize S6

I am having this same problem. I have tried different usb cables, different computers, different ports, tried downloading samsung drivers, tried downloading several other items....nothing is working. I just backed up all of my photos on my phone right before I went on vacation and had no problem. Now I'm trying to get all of my vacation photos off and I can't. I did recently do an update on my phone that kept popping up. Maybe that's what did it? I did the update AFTER I saved all my photos, so that's the only thing I can think of. I guess I'll be paying Verizon a visit?!

I have been trying to figure this out for months and have periodically given up.

then is donned on me....

By chance, do any of you use a 3rd party docking battery to give extended charge to your phone ?

Well I do. So I removed my phone from the external battery, plugged it into my PC with the USB cable and boom.

My phone connected on the 1st try.

Conclusion, your PC cannot detect your phone through an external battery charger.

Hope this helps!

Think I may have solved the problem on Windows 7.

Brand new replacement S6 and PC couldn't find it. When connected, if you slide down the screen from the top and press on "more USB options" it shows you as a "media device". If you press on the option for "Camera", then voila, Windows explorer can see the contents of the phone!

Yay! You found the solution. That worked for me too.

Once I connected my phone through USB cable to my PC, I had to go back to my phone. I swiped down from the top. I saw USB Charging - Tap here for more options. I tapped and changed my phone setting from

Use USB for
Charging

to

Use USB for
Photo Transfer

My PC could then recognize my phone as a drive and I could see my photos on my PC through Windows Explorer. This did the trick.

Thanks!

I'm not seeing this option on my S6, used 3 to4 cables. Never had this problem before till latest update.
