People receiving your phone--how is the signal strength?

In dBm (NOT bars) is your signal strength better or worse?

I never checked the signal on my droidx before activating my s3, but seeing how one is 3g and the other is 4g, I don't think it'd be a good comparison. I'm sitting at -77 now. I'll have to check the signal when I get home though, as it's usually not as good as where I work.

Just put the galaxy s3 I'm 3G mode only and then compare the readings.

coming from 3g droid x... never checked signal.. galaxy S3 is showing -104 dbm 36asu..im at work.. dont know what this means or if its good..but phone is fast and no problem connecting to anything.. So what numbers are good???

Those are bad numbers. And I'm seeing a disconcerting number of them.

Never had a problem with any Samsung and I have had the fassy, charge, Nexus and soon gs3 guess I'm just been lucky?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

My old phone was a Thunderbolt running Gingerbread. Right before I powered it off, it was registering between -79 dbm and -91. It seemed to fluctuate a good bit.

The SGIII registered -109 but did not fluctuate. I have had problems recently with my Thunderbolt dropping all data connection for short periods of time. I'll find out this evening if the SGIII does better or not.

The SGIII automatically re-loaded my apps and did it very quickly. I did not do a speed test, but the speed appeared to be fast even for 4g.

I made one phone call and the call clarity was very good.

Of course, there appears to be a good bit of bloatware, so I am looking forward to rooting the phone.

I never had issues with any previous Samsung phones either (fascinate, nexus) so maybe I got lucky. As long as it doesn't drop I'm not to worried about it reading a little higher. Guess I'll find out once mine arrives

I'm coming from a Fascinate. At my office the Fascinate's 3G signal was -59 this morning. Just activated my SIII and the signal is showing -66.

I just tested my DX running ICS and it got ~82. Galaxy S3 in exactly the same spot is registering ~94.

Is it bad enough for you to feel concerned yet? I have read some people are having texts not go through in fringe areas...

I had the Razr Maxx for a week or so but returned it to get the S3. Been using my OG Incredible while waiting for the S3 which I just received.

Ran a quick speed test and its not looking good compared to the Razr where I was getting ~20 mb d/l and now averaging ~7 mb d/l with the S3. 4G signal not pretty at around -112 dbm...same as 3G on my Incredible. Barely have 2 bars whereas the Maxx (at the time was running GB) had 4.

*sighs* Like this is going to be a valid method of testing. We've had a bagillion blogs review this phone. Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, ATT. It doesn't matter. They all are using the same hardware on different frequencies. If there was a problem, we would have heard about it by now.

yeah...let's all just assume it's fine. I'm sure paid reviewers wouldn't lead us astray...

Ok, so activated the S3, my signal is 112, not great, but calls are clear, and 4G signal seems to be better than the Nexus, but still not good. I am a little depressed. When i activate the Nexus this evening, I will do a bunch of tests. So I am a little worried, but if all works fine, I guess I don't care. I may get a new SIM.
