Phantom button pushing...

Just something for thought! Screens protectors can cause problems with the sensors! Especially the thicker ones like from invisashield! Sprint techs recommend not using the thicker ones for this reason of random presses.

Side note about dust under screen!! like i said i have had dust under my screen. Today I said thats it and installed my Nanroid of stock VD(I figured they would turn it on after taking it apart and putting back together, dont want to make plan as day the phone is rooted with custom recovery and all. ) and brought it in to sprint so they can clean the thing out! Good as new!

No screen protector here... Daughter ripped it off of the hero so I didn't bother.

Still having issues with this, thinking of taking it into a Sprint store... problem is that I don't think I made a nandroid of stock... I know there is one floating around here someplace... anyone know where?? Also, if I revert back to stock and take it in for service and they replace it... can I root the new one and use the nandroid I have of my most recent set up on the new phone?

Found the stock nandroid... :D

Yes you can root it and use the nandroid you just made.

Much like the way you just used someone else nandroid of stock to return it to sprint.

I use swype but the keyboard isn't making a difference for me. Phone randomly deleted a text earlier like I was pushing buttons and I wasn't even touching it. For that matter, I didn't even go into the message app, it did that on its own as well. Its always in quick succession, before I've realized what's going on.

yes it was! on home screen thats where my market shortcut is on the dock it would always open

Ok, may have made some progress here... What launcher are you using?? Was messing around with the hubby's EVO today and it did the same thing. He's clearly NOT on Reborn although he is rooted. It was in the same exact spot. We both use Launcher Pro.

Well maybe it's coincidence then. I installed Go Launcher Ex today thinking it might fix it and I've had the same thing happen a few times too. Suck.

Make sure you dont get a Replacement phone for this.. ONLY get it fixed. They are sending out the new Optimus S with Gingerbread :p

I have had this problem for months on the stock Optimus S. I took it to the Sprint store, where they suggested wiping it clean and starting over. That helped out a little, but it never took the problem away. My screen has the problem in the lower left corner. I can confirm that it happens with several different launchers and on reborn. I am certain it is a hardware issue. When I installed Wave Launcher, which vibrates a little when you activate it at the bottom of the screen, I could set the phone on my knee and it would randomly vibrate. Now I just tap the lower left part of the screen with a knuckle once or twice when it happens and it goes away for a while.

Sprint said they would replace it but charge me $36, so I have not taken them up on it.

Was the $36 a replacement fee or another activation fee?

If you do get a new phone with gingerbread it's not the end of the world; you can revert back to VD using KP500 the same way we used to revert to V9 for the purpose of rooting, Drew and I were discussing this the other day he's already intending on rewriting the guide for reverting from Gingerbread to VD.

Basically if you revert back to vd you can reroot but until they put gingerbread on the LG update tool you can't update back... Course if all you intend on doing is rooting and reflashing something like reborn rom it should work fine... Sadly this is conjecture until proven but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work,

What if they have fixed all the exploits in the GB release? This is why I would be weary of getting it replaced. I am suffering from lack of root on my GB evo. But I think ur right. LG will release it and will work fine with update tool etc
