my galaxy nexus appears completely ruined.

i tried to apply a theme with metamorphic, and it didn't work like i planned. i figured it wouldn't be too big of a deal, but i noticed i couldn't access my settings at all. i had only rooted my phone a couple of days ago, and i hadn't really added a whole lot. so, i decided to try it from the start. i am using team win recovery project, by the way.

i had wiped everything, including the system. i wiped cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, rotation, and did a factory reset. everything. i pushed a zip file to install. it pushed successfully. i tried to install it, but this was the result:

--Verify md5 for /sdcard/Xylon-Nightly-MBQ-Toroplus_3-24.zip

--No md5 file found, ignoring

-- Install /sdcard/Xylon-Nightly-MBQ-Toroplus_3-24.zip ...

* Verifying partition sizes...
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/Xylon-Nightly-MBQ-Toroplus_3-24.zip'

I have tried two other zips, titled "pa_maguro-3.zip" and "pa_toroplus-3.zip." nothing seems to be working. it just says "Failed" in red letters rather than the "Successful" in blue letters. Whenever i try to reboot the phone, it just says Google on the screen, and doesn't go anywhere else. i have reviewed other threads as well, but nothing has worked. please help!!!!!!!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who did this! Only problem is that I had to buy a new phone because I couldn't find anyone to help me. I give them it a try as well.

@op - you are sure your phone is the Sprint version, right? (wondering why you even tried the maguro)
If all else fails, are you able to restore from your previous nandroid?

i managed to restore the phone back to stock and reroot it as well. phone is good now. although unfortunately, i still can't flash custom rom files. i'm still using twrp, but now the log is telling me that there is no MD5 file and right after, it comes up with an error. i've been browsing through goo.im for some roms to upgrade to, such as "aokp_toroplus_jb-mr1_build-6.zip," but i can't see what's going wrong. i didn't see any other files that are to be downloaded with the zip. any ideas?

in addition, my phone can't even do regular system updates now. so i'm stuck on old school nexus operating system, which is exactly the opposite of what i want.

Did you look for into JB Sourcery? It's currently JB 4.2.2

the weird thing is, the goomanager app can find updates that are compatible for my phone, which is how i found the "aokp_toroplus_jb-mr1_build-6.zip" file. why wouldn't it work?

i'll try the jb sourcery though. the one that goomanager found for my phone is titled "JBSourcery-ToroPlus."

edit: nevermind, the file name is "JBSourcery-Sprint-V5.1.zip"

Try to install cwm recovery. I had flashing problems when I used twrp. Don't know why I did but it was an issue.

here's what i got. yet again:

Installing '/sdcard/JBSourcery-Sprint-V5.zip'...
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/JBSourcery-Sprint-V5

not system. i'm scared as to wipe system again just in case it doesn't work. not having an operating system really is a bummer.

The 1st time I installed JB Sourcery I didn't wipe system either. It was a pita to install and then I kept getting boot loops & freezes. I installed a 2nd time and this time I wiped system too, much more stable now.
I would wipe system before you keep beating your head against the wall. As long as you have twrp on there you'll always be able to restore a stock ROM with Wugs

I hear ya - I had the same concern, and I didn't wipe system either, and when I flashed JBSorcery after that, it keep looping on boot animation. Ended up wiping system, and the flash went thru' without any problem.
Assuming you took a nandroid backup after rooting, you should be able to restore from that nandroid in case things go bad.

* just remember to not wipe the data - only system. If you wipe data, your sdcard partition will get wiped too.

alright, so this time i wiped system as well as cache, dalvik cache, and i did a factory reset. i tried installing the JBSourcery rom, but i still got that same message.

I'm stumped.
Hop on the Jbsourcery site, and go to their IRC channel - Team Sourcery IRC | ?.Team Sourcery?. and ask the folks there. They are pretty helpful over there, and will very likely fix your issue (they fixed my boot looping issue)

(To confirm, your phone is a Sprint phone, right?)

Edit: Oh - just realized - since Google has released the binaries for Sprint 4.2.1, you can always download that and flash it - Google Posts Jelly Bean Factory Images For The Verizon (4.2.2) And Sprint (4.2.1) Galaxy Nexus

Did you do it in this order? The point in wiping the system is to remove the current OS. By doing a factory reset, you reinstalled the OS which would defeat the purpose of the wipe.

tried changing the order, no effect. also, i don't see a sprint rom for the galaxy nexus on the team sorcery site. i almost feel like it's the twrp program i have installed.

go to Team Sourcery Forum • View topic - JBSourcery V5.1 ToroPlus (Sprint) (03/07/2013) JB4.2.2 for 5.1 Sprint version. If you are feeling adventurous, go over to their experimental ROMs instead - 5.1.6 is available at Team Sourcery Forum • View topic - Experimental 5.1.6 - make sure you pick the toroplus

- I'm using TWRP too - are you on TWRP version 2.4 (or higher)?
