Phone appends 011 to numbers after voice search

My wife's LG Ally (rooted and running Velocity) is doing something strange and I haven't been able to find anything similar in the Interwebs, nor can I find a setting on the phone that would explain it.

If she does a voice search (i.e. "Call Five Guys Burgers") for a number not in her address book, then taps Dial to call the number that appears from search results, her phone attempts to append 011 to the number. The format is incorrect of course, and the call fails.

This also happens if there are multiple choices and she selects from the displayed list.

This is not happening in the browser, but rather the built-in app that launches when a voice search is performed. The displayed number is correctly shown as "+1-206-###-###" but the number her phone tries to dial looks like "+0111206#######" for some reason.

If she does a Google search for Five Guys Burgers and there is a button with the phone number, she can tap it and the phone will correctly dial the number in +1-206- format. It also dials correctly if she uses numbers in her address book.

Settings --> Call Settings did not appear to have anything that would affect this behavior. Assisted Dialing is not enabled. Any ideas?

Sounds like the app itself, is doing an international dialing prefix.

The fact that the browser does it correctly, confirms this.

I would check the voice app settings.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found those settings and I cannot see anything there that would apply here:
Language (set to English US)
SafeSearch (set to moderate)
Block offensive words (checked by default)
Personalized recognition (checked by default)
Google Account dashboard

I looked in Google Account settings too, and nothing there would seem to explain this either...

Voice Search, I think...if that is the actual source of the issue. It's a stock Android application, I believe. I can get the version number if you think that's relevant.

Actually, I think it may be part of the LG bundled apps.

There's an app called Start talk, It may be of better use to you. Haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Although I rarely use this, but, My standard voice dialer seems to function ok. But I'm not in the states.

Are you using Facebook? I bet that's the culprit. The fix has been to unsync facebook contacts in your sync settings and then manually edit your contacts to make sure they did not pick up the 011 from Facebook.

Good Luck.
