Oh my my my..What has HTC done? :(.. So I currently own the GS6 Edge, M8 and M9 and i've compared batter temp of each handset under the same conditions using GSM battery application. The results are very noticeable as the M9 is always 6 degress or so higher. For example, while each phone was on wifi, off the charger and no applications running the results were:
M9 - 76
M8 - 69
Edge - 71
I've order both devices because i'm trying to figure out which phone i'm going to keep for my second line. With the Edge, its software is very Samsung with all of the stutters, redraws, etc and the only wrong with the M9 right now is the battery drain seemingly due to heat.

Right now, both of these flagships suck, I just can't understand why these companies can't get things right..smh

Since HTC already put out an update I wonder if the issue with the Snapdragon 810 can be resolved?
By the way: Build quality on the HTC is much better than Edge..

It seems like all the UK reviews of the M9 state the battery life lasts a day easily with 30% left the following day and is better than the M8 battery. At least from the few reviews I've read. The M9 battery seems to last longer on Canadian carriers as well. It seems like a lot of this has to do with the network you are on since that is causing the most battery drain on these 2015 devices.

Can anyone in the UK confirm this?

Anyway, your post is a bit alarmist. It runs hotter and no one disputes that, but it isn't going to scold you. Battery life impact seems to not be a definitive statement and varies based on the user.

I very much hope that this is the case and things can be resolved. For now, the Edge and HTC M9 will likely be going back and I'll just buy another M8 on craigslist or something.

It seemed to me that all the reviews I read/watched by European reviewers were more favorable of the phone in general. Not sure why though.

Except Petvas is in Germany and definitely doesn't think the M9 battery is better than the M8.In would ask Alex, I think he is in the UK but he has an M8 not an M9.

That is pretty interesting. Unless Sammy up to its old tricks and paying for slander on the One m9 I am just saying

Let's not bother going there. It has nothing to do with it any more than saying HTC is paying T-Mobile to make the S6 a turd on their network.

After getting my HTC one m9 I have to agree that it tends to get warm. I think I'm going to return it and get the nexus 6.

I am in no way saying Samsung is doing that (I don't think they are), but they did get caught paying people to post favorably toward Samsung and against their competitors in the past. I know it was a while ago, but I wouldn't put much past them.

If you believe what you just wrote then unicorns exist too. Who cares if Samsung got caught paying people to post bad things about HTC or someone's mama in a forum years ago. The tech people on any website only make up about .5% of a manufacturers smartphone sales if that much . I highly doubt that small minority helps HTC stay afloat. Not to mention HTC almost went bankrupt a few years ago. I assume that was Samsungs fault too because over the past 4 years they paid people to write bad things about HTC? Just think about how silly that sounds for a moment then read what you had previously wrote.

All we need is a smartphone conspiracy theorist making irrelevant comments. Not helpful.

All he said was he wouldn't put it past them, that wasnt worth replying to on your part. It was neither here nor there Lmbo! Oh well

Did you read my comment? I said that I don't think they are doing that. I also never said that Samsung said anything about HTC, or that Samsung has anything to do with HTC's recent troubles. I didn't even mention HTC at all!! All I mentioned is that in the past Samsung has done some less than professional things.

Ok here's my personal test results. .all things off but Wifi I ran a YouTube video for 32 minutes simultaneously with the m9 and edge and the edge only got to 82 f and for the m9 in reached up to 95 f..battery results were m9 = 90% battery life and the edge = 91%..both screens were on auto brightness. The edge wins by approximately 8 minutes of video play but still runs a lot cooler. .if HTC would have used a better processor it would be close...the edge pushes greater pixels with a smaller battery and it wins..shame on HTC.

I am having the same problem, I've had the m9 for a couple of days now. Battery life is better but only because I'm not using the phone as much. I have already ordered a N6

I might be going with the s6 because it has the Wolfson DAC which does well in terms of audio performance, and the superior camera over the nexus. Though on att I can't seem to order a nexus 6 in 64 GB, so the galaxy s6 in 128 it is
