Phone Insurance

My phones are covered under my Household Insurance Policy.

£100 excess fee.

They provide a brand new phone.

I'm in the Uk.

Not even in the same ballpark, but nice try.
Insurance is insurance, it's the same. Doesn't matter what you insure there's a good chance you won't use it. The ballpark I'm in is discussing insurance, not what we insure or values of what we insure.

I used to think the same way you do. I buy just the accident, lost insurance from asurion thru Verizon for $6.80 a month, they still have those just have to ask for it. These phones are $1500 now, I'll never be stupid and file a phone claim under my homeowner's insurance, it's getting worth it to have it now. I just started getting it when I got the s20 ultra 512. I've never broke a phone ever, but decided I waste money worse ways. Well, couple weeks ago I had it happen, phone dropped and broke. Insurance can't replace the s20 ultra 512 so I have a almost $1,500 check sitting here. That's why I said what I said... Insurance is insurance, just because we never had the need for it for whatever you're insuring doesn't mean it can't happen. I get cars are more expensive then phones, there's liability in car insurance, but then again the rates are more expensive on cars then phones. For most people, insurance costs more then just going without it over time. I also get what you're saying, you can absorb the loss of a phone over a car. I wasn't trying to compare different types of insurance, I was just showing I could say the same about my car insurance and house insurance for that matter, as you said about phone insurance. Phone insurance is cheap enough for me to have the peace of mind knowing if I break this $1500 phone I can have another the next day for a lot less then buying a new one. .

I completely understand and am definetly glad you had the insurance, nice to have that check I bet. Who knows, I may be singing a different tune if something happened to my S20U. But for now I am good.

BTW, I did not jump into this thread to try and sway anyone or say that they are dumb for having insurance. Was just giving my experience. I have seen a lot of people benefit from it and that's great.

Anyone just use the insurance offered with SOME credit cards?

My AA Red MasterCard covers my phones as long as I pay my cell bill through them.

I don't think that. I was just trying to clarify what I was trying to say the first time is all.

I think doing it through your carrier is a safe option. I've insured my device through my carrier and it's definitely made things easier, especially when the phone is pretty much all glass!
